Even if insurance was to pay out enough I have some rifles I just plain couldnt replace whether because of sentimental value or there just arent many out there.
Operating under that assumption I'd get a Sako 75 in .25-06, BLR in .358 Win, Ruger 10/22, Browning Gold 12 gauge, and a Citori XT Trap Un-Single combo. With those I'd be able to do just about everything I need done.
I would try to rebuild my collection as it is now. I doubt that would be entirely possible due to the rarity and custom nature of several arms, but I would undoubtedly begin with a M17 to begin modifications, and something like an M1Carbine and/or shotgun for defense. Then slowly try to recover the remainder.
That said, a firesafe (and good security) is a heck of a thing. Add in the fact that I live at the top of a hill (if it floods, I should have plenty of forewarning so I could build an ark), in an area not typically subject to a violent natural disaster, so a complete loss seems very unlikely.
1. Uberti 1862 Police 36 cap & ball (or a 1851 Colt Navy "Man With No Name" 38 special conversion)
2. Remington 38 Special Conversion
2. Uberti or Cimarron Model P in 357/38
3. Ruger Blackhawk 45 Colt
4. 1911 Springfield Mil-spec
5. Beretta 92FS
6. Ruger GP-100 or Dan Wesson or Smith & Wesson 357 Magnum
7. TC Contender Super 14 in 223 (with scope)
.45 1911A1
.45 Ruger Vaquero
9mm HiPower
.32 Keltech - maybe go for a .380
12 GA Model 12
6.8 SPC AR15
6mm Model 700 - maybe go for a Garand
30-30 Model 94
.223 Ruger Mini-14
.17 Savage 93
.357 Rossi Snub nose
Easy: One of each of everything that I've currently got. If possible, I'd also trade up in any spots where the collection might have a representative sample that is less than stellar, though I must confess to being happy with what I have.
If I got replacement value for the guns, ammo, and accesories, then I would buy an M-16, M-60, couple of Mac-10s, and maybe a Browning 1919 and enough ammo to feed them for awhile.
After that I would replace about half of the guns I now own, but even that would take me awhile. If I only got what I paid for them, then I'm way behind the power curve as I usually only buy when I find a great deal and couldn't possibly be able to replace them today for what I bought them for.
M1A Scout 18" in a Sage EBR setup, bipod front grip, 4x scope and a 1 point sling; as well as 10 20rd Springfield Mags in 5 pouches in Coyote Tan.
Springfield XDm in 45ACP no lazer, no flashlight no side mounted glock sights . Just the pistol and 6 mags with three dual mag hard pastic mag holders also in Coyote Tan.
Finally a Remington 870 12ga 18" with folding stock and exteded mag tube.
I'd probably get all different firearms. As much as I love the guns I have, if I could start over with the funds (or without). I would go in a different general direction so I could experience owning quite a few different firearms. I would follow suit with wideym and pickup mostly full auto at first (as these could be the hardest to get in the future). Well I would get another 8-shot S&W 357, but a different model.
For me, the first replacement would be my CCW I would get a HK P30 LEM 9mm.
Then a double barrel hammer gun in 12ga for home defense, then a SCAR with, for me, the proper accouterments, and then a S&W 642 (probably Used pre lock) and put a set of Crimson Trace Laser grips on it. Then a couple of 1911 Springfield Professionals one with rails one without. Then a Ruger 22cal rifle and pistol.
Listed:
HK P30 LEM 9mm - CCW
12ga Double Barrel hammer gun - Primary Home Defense
FN SCAR MK 16s 5.56 NATO, Aimpoint H-1 on Larue mount, Surefire X300
S&W 642 (no lock) 38spl of course with Crimson Trace laser grips
1911 Springfield "Professional/Operator" rail gun with Surefire X400 with DG switch 45acp of course
1911 Springfield "Professional" 45acp of course
MK II Ruger 22cal pistol (yes the older used Mk II)
10/22 Ruger semi auto 22cal carbine
These would be the first guns/weapons I would acquire if I was wiped out and had funds to replenish them.
If I wouldn't replace all of them but I would buy back.
1 My Mossberg 590
2 my Springfield Armory M1A
3 my Colt H Bar
4 my Ruger 10-22
5 my S&W .22 LR K22 masterpiece
6 my S&W Mod 27 357 Mag
I would replace My combat modified Colt goverment with a FN FNP 45ACP.
I would replace my Savage 110FP with a worked over to Marine Corp Spec's Remington model 700 with a leupold 10X fixxed power tatical scope.
I think I might get a couple of Arsanel AK-47
First things I'd replace would be the Remington 870 pump in 12 gage, and the 4" 357 stainless Taurus. After that I'd get a PT92 - 9mm, a 45 ACP auto (24/7 Pro), a 38 2" snub, a 22LR revolver and an auto both longer barrels, and another Hi Point 9mm 'cause it's fun to shoot. This is what I have now and am happy with them all.
I'd be forced to downsize, since most of mine were given to me by my dad and grandpa and I couldn't replace them. A substitute wouldn't be the same. The first purchase would be a 12 ga semi-auto for clays and doves, then probably would buy a Marlin 60. As money allowed I'd try to replace a couple of my milsurps, probably the K98 and K31 first. Both of my handguns were gifts and I've never done too much research into purchasing one, so I couldn't name a definate model without looking into it more.
