If you couldn't have an AR....

I wouldn't want to give up my AR, even though ut definitely not my favorite rifle. It is our go-to.

I could easily make do with my original set-up. A marlin 336 in 30-30.
More recently I have been really impressed by my ruger American ranch rifle in 7.62x39. I have 20rd mini30 magazines for it. It is compact, lightweight, and accurate. I have been very pleased with it. I think if it were in .308 it would add some more range and make a great carbine.

For the long distance shots I have a Mosin Nagant 91/30 PU Sniper or my Savage bolt action in 6.5 Creedmoor.
For everything else I have a large collection of AKs & SKSs.

My AR is my least favorite rifle. If I want a semi-auto I prefer the Mini-14, 2 SKS and Marlin 9mm carbine I have. But like a lot of others I am happy with my lever actions and bolt guns. I don't see any major gun fights in my future and don't need 10 thirty round magazines hanging off of me. And if the price on them comes down I would like to have a Ruger American like Armored Farmers pictured above. I can see a real use for a gun like that.

This is happening in Canada as our commie Prime Minister used the Canadian equivalent of an Executive Order, bypassing our Parliament to ban AR rifles and many others, some which just looked like ARs. So now we either surrender these formerly legal rifles to him or keep them in our safes but we cannot use them, even at a certified range.

This is why you have to fight gun registries, they are not for public safety but rather for confiscation by the government that you pay for.

Back to the OT, I run a Benelli MR1 now. It takes STANAG mags (maximum capacity 5 rounds, 10 rounds if the mag is a pistol mag).
