300 grain XTP.
Not on purpose I hope!
I like the .460, but it deserves a bullet that can handle the velocity potential.

I would be shooting 45 Colt with 21 grains of H110. I would rather not have an X-frame, but the Ruger Super Redhawk with any barrel length is up there with the world's ugliest revolvers. The Alaskan is too short a barrel IMO.Not on purpose I hope!

But it wouldn't be at 460 velocities, simply according to Hornady data for 45 Colt, which I mentioned. If I were to guess, and I am, I would say he was talking about bullet choice of the xtp ,and it possibly not holding up to the task penetration in a dire situation, and not so much the about caliber choice.
With 45 Colt?Still wouldn’t use the XTP. I’ve seen some spectacular failures over the years.
Well, you're no fun.:>)Has anyone picked up on the fact the Yukon is in Canada, and handguns are basically illegal in Canada?

With 45 Colt?
Can you make a recomendation for a monometal bullet in 45 ? Ive seen the lehigh one, thats about itYes. They’re not particularly well constructed and they’re not bonded. A friend was using them in a .45 Colt at about 1,200 fps on about a 350 pound red stag, and when I get the chance I will post of the photos of the recovered bullets. On the same trip I saw XTPs in other calibers also fail. They are not a good choice especially when your backside is on the line.

srh is weird looking. But its beautiful in the way a lot of utilitarian things are. Most people dont buy a super redhawk cause shes pretty, they buy them to have an extremely robust and powerful handgun that will digest decades of full power cartridges that would turn comparable firearms into scrap. The x frame is a different story but its also significantly larger and to my eye not very good looking either. The freedom arms revolvers are strong and beautiful but not as quick to fire or reload for most and their lighter weight make them a little bit more of a handfull to shoot. So many awesome guns out there, so few dollars in my pocket...I would be shooting 45 Colt with 21 grains of H110.
