I'm going to try to sell one of my AR's. It started life as a complete Bushmaster carbon 15 (I know, I know...). It has since received an SAA billet aluminum upper receiver with most of the Bushmaster parts from the original swapped over, along with a new barrel nut and YHM gas block. The flash suppressor is the original, as is the hand guard. As for the lower, the only upgrade is a Spike's NiB Battle Trigger with a JP reduced pull spring set and a new Magpul MOE grip. The tube and stock are the original. It also has lower priced fold down aluminum front and rear sights, as well as a Nikon P223 4x scope mounted in the Nikon P223 mounts. My questions are these. How much would you try to sell it for? Is it even worth trying to sell? Would you try to break it into a package, with and without scope? Thanks for your input.

I'd part it out; that being said, the market is down, so unless you're forced, i'd wait until the next election cycle is in full swing...

I would keep it. Without the scope you might be lucky to get $450. The plastic lowers don't sell. No need for one when a aluminum lower is $50.
I'm guessing the scope and mounts are $125 - $150

I agree. Save it for the next panic (should occur right on schedule when Hillary gets elected in 2016), or part it out.

Used AR buyers typically don't want poly receivers. A mix and match parts swap like that won't net you much, maybe a few hundred bucks in this market.

Everyone is echoing exactly how I feel. I think I just needed to hear it from other people. I know that cobbled AR's with polly lowers aren't sought after, but I was going to try to use the money to help fund the purchase of a bolt gun. Thanks for the input, it's much appreciated.

I would say $500ish is fair. I recently built an complete and ALL PSA parts with exception being a rear magpul flip up sight for about $525 including shipping and FFL fees.
That is for a new gun, matching brand upper, lower, stock, barrel. I have sold identical ones for $700 a year ago in the matter of hours after listing it.

I agree with most everyone, wait until a drought in availability or accept that you are probably going to take a loss.

Polymer lowers have like 0 resale value but I'll be honest, I bought a complete pistol lower that was polymer, and shot about 100 rds thru it while my SBR stamp was pending so that I could sight the red dot on the upper in. It was reliable, light and a damn smooth trigger. Luckily for me my stamp came back right before Sandy Hook and I dumped that polymer lower for nearly 3x what I paid for it...effectively paying for my SBR upper.

Wait until the antichrist gets voted into office.

Right now that AR is worth $99.95. Now's not the time to sell. Lose the scope. That should be sold on it's own, not together with the rifle.
