Illegal Immigration controversy - what are YOU going to do?

Curiously, our last Civil War was about slavery as well.

I thought that our last civil war was over tariffs, and the usurption of states authority.

I agree with Ozone. If all of those conditions were met, I don't have a problem with imigration.

ozone composed a pretty good list.
Most citizens would be able to live with that.

None of the regulatory points on ozone's list will happen.
I'd like to see one single link or credible reference to a news item catagolically stating these items will be addressed by this administration or INS.

Therefore, IMO, thinking citizens of the US should be all kinds of issues with the Bush scheme to decriminalize illegal immigration.

"Since I live in the 1st house north of the El Paso City limits, they aren't real hard to find."

You know Sam, I was stationed at Ft Bliss, I lived at the McGreggor Range complex and worked at the Donna Anna Range. I know what speak of. We had to do constant range sweeps to ensure we didn't have a mess of illegals on the ranges before we went hot with live fire. I even had to keep a case of MREs, 5 gallons of water and a box of blankets in my Range Controll truck in case I encountered some. I was to feed them, give em a blanket, call in the location and continue on my patrol. Funny thing, every single time when INS got there, they were gone.

I am against all illegal imigration regardless of the country of origin. I am however, for legal immigration and support it fully. What really getts me steamed up is when I tell somone I think we should lock the borders and open a few immigrant centers around the country and they call me a hipocrite because my family immigrated here. Well, they are correct, from Scotland to be presice and you know, we still have thier Ellis Island paperwork somwhere.

El Tejon,
While the majority of posts regarding the matter of illegal immigration are directed at the issues on the US/Mexico border that is because the starting posts is so directed in many cases.

Try the "search" function for ESL or the more generic terms immigrants or illegal immigrants. Or you can try a country of origin and you can find a more of the references to say China.

The issue of of foreign nationals from countries other than Mexico entering the United States illegally has been discussed on a number of threads. I know this because I have pointed to the ESL issue in more than one post myself.

In many, if not most cases, if you search "immigration" the country of origin is not included at all. At least based on my pretty quick "search"ing just now the majority of posts are in fact generic. Your search engine milage may very.

"THR is silent about illegal Irish, Asian, Russian or Polish unlawful immigration, but quite vocal about Hispanic unlawful immigration." Well....no, not entirely.

Many here are concerned to illegal immigration no matter the country of origin and have so stated that concern.

No flame intended. :)

KMKELLER,

Wanna see some illegals?? Come on down to my neck of the woods...Siler City (the town I work in) has been called "Little Mexico" for several years now...

everyone else...

True story...

The place I work at has about 150 people employed at any one time...70% of that is Latino...Yuppers 70%...Plant VP told me this himself...of that 70% about 70%-80% are illegal's...The place I work at know's this...They do nothing about it...it is so bad that some of them cannot keep there names straight with what they told the office people...lol

2 years ago, Immigration officers paid them a visit...Word got out that they were coming...60 people didnt show up for work that day... :what:

And this is NOT a place that "exploits" there workers...Most jobs there are $10-$12 an hour with decent benefits...Yup it is difficult for a white person or black person to get a job there...

About them not learning the language...It is FUN when we get a new guy in and I tick him off...Once he learns that I understand him, the look on his face is priceliss!!

I even got one of them to teach me how to say "All your women are ours!" in spanish...That one is fun to pop off with at the local Wal-Mart!

There needs to be a pamphlet telling them that calling a white guy a "redneck" is not a good idea though... :scrutiny:

In my town, illegal Hispanics are the greater problem. FWIW, I'm against all illegal immigration. Stop looking for racism where it doesn't exist.

Yes, I grow very tried of people pulling the race card, many times I feel it
is done to prevent common sense discussion of the topic. Once again
it is simply the numbers I could care not where they are from, color, sex,
etc. It needs to be controlled. Legal controlled immigration. :banghead:

Self, fair enough. I'll search away for all those threads decrying illegal Irish immigration in Boston or illegal Polish immigration in Chicago or illegal Russian immigration in New York.

I'll report back, but if I was a betting man (Pats to cover tomorrow) I'll bet that I won't find any, but I will find plenty of thread about those with darker eye color. ;)

Well, would have lost that bet. I DID find ONE thread.

Jeff White posted an article from the Houston Chronicle about the Russian [Armenian] mafia stealing militree goods and smuggling them out of the country.

However, the thread had a grand total of one reply and had nothing to do with rounding up all those light eyed Russians, or shooting them or building a wall on the East Coast or any airport to prevent any further Russian immigration.

Yep, don't mention the flood of what, 15, 20 or 30 million ILLEGAL persons of "darker eye color." That would be racist. Instead, concentrate on the comparative handful of "others." "...light eyed Russians" who are causing all the problems. Yeah, that's the ticket. Criminal acts deserve a legal response by a blindfolded lady bearing scales & a sword. One here illegally should expect to be sent back to country of origin. How is that unfair?
