So I was in a local gun shop today where they offer gunsmithing. I overheard a man asking for the gunsmith to thread the end of his barrel on his Ak-47. The gunsmith said that he wouldn't modify his gun that way because it was illegal. I was under the impression that it wasn't illegal to thread a barrel. Anyway I'm just wondering what kind of modifications are illegal.
