Let's say that I wanted to go out and purchase somewhere between 100 and 1000 SKS rifles. - Hell, even if I intended to turn around and sell them to other people, the transaction would still be legal so long as each transaction went through an FFL, right?

Not to get off topic, but what states require FFL for rifle or shotgun purchases? In Ohio FFL transactions are only needed for handguns (Class 3 purchases excluded, obviously)

It might send up flags to the BATFE, but I can't see a reason why you couldn't buy 100 rifles at a time. You would probably want to have a C&R license for SKS's and avoid the crap the local FFL holder is going to give you. The BATFE will probably tap you for an audit, but if your paperwork is in order and you aren't selling more than a few of them per year, you'll probably be ok. You could claim to have some sort of gun fetish (and who doesn't). I know of an older gentleman who bought a couple pallets containing several hundred surplused springfield rifles at auction- of course this was well before the 1968 GCA nonsense.

A guy with a C&R can call up Samco and order up a crate of 10 identical Yugo SKS's if he wanted to, they even advertise them on the site. I can't imagine buying 10 identical SKS's for personal use or for a collection, But I think it would make a neat coffee table for my rec room if I took the lid off the crate and put a glass top on one ;)

I don't know of any rule about personal use. If you aren't doing anything illegal with them or selling them as a money making business, if anyone asks what you are doing with them, say "none of your damn business"

Maybe for person to person transfers. If you were to order a rifle or shotgun from a manufacturer, importer, or wholesaler, there has to be a FFL or C&R license involved depending on the firearm- its federal law.

one quite legitimate reason would be for decorating; ala the wheel of guns in the govenours palace in williamsburg VA, of course you would need the palace to decorate too.:neener:

You stole my idea! :what: Seriously, I had the same thought. I have no real "use" for a crate of 10 unissued SKS rifles, but something about it appeals to me. If I had an extra 2 grand laying around, I'd be seriously tempted. It would indeed make a righteous coffee table....
