Illinois is likely to remain one of four states banning concealed weapons

Don,
The Keyes fiasco was a way for the republican power brokers to slap the conservative wing in the face and say "see you're out of the mainstream, a big name conservative hasn't got a chance in Illinois, now shut up and take whatever political bones we throw you". Topinka was also allegedly involved in ending Jack Ryan's senate bid.

Terrifying image

Boy, thanks Jeff

With the mention of Ryan's failed Senate bid and Topinka in the same sentence, I just flashed an image of Jack Ryan walking into a Parisian Sex Club with Topinka and now I'll be psychologically impotent for a month or more.

I've been getting phone calls about twice a week lately from pollsters asking for my opinion on the primary candidates. The way the questions are worded it sounds like they are from the Topinka side of the coin.

Most of them start by asking for unaided awareness of candidates names. I always leave out Topinka, even when they try to get one or two more names out of me, just to screw around with them.

Don,
Try to conjure up an image of Geri Ryan. ;)

The stuff I get from the Topinka campaign in the mail suggests she's already the nomiee and doesn't even acknowledge there will be a primary. I don't know if I am on a list for a different mailing since I'm a republican committeeman.

Jeff

That depends. Are you management or labor?

If you're Bob Kjellander, a primary is no good at all and you'd avoid it if you could, but it's required by law so you have to have one. That doesn't mean you have to run it like some sort of contest or something, though.

Kjellander is slowly being recognized as the poster-boy for corruption in Illinois--and he's the face of the Illinois GOP as far as the national party is concerned. This leads me to believe that the national GOP doesn't much mind losing Illinois constantly as long as Kjellander keeps the fundraising alive.

How did....

we lose so much, so quickly.......

I don't think I am going out on a limb here when I say our founding fathers must be rolling in their graves as they watch what we have let happen.

We have emerged into a society that simply rolls with the punches and takes the simple bones our politicians deem appropriate for the dogs. Where did we lose our bite?

What happened to the day when the voters actually decided who would be THEIR candidate. Now the power brokers tell us who we can choose from, because their financial backing all but assures it. Then the majority of the state has to live with who Chicago decides is best for us. :fire:

We have Armalite, DS Arms, Eagle Arms, Les Baer, Rock River & Springfield in this state, yet we are still having to fight these battles. The ISP states that there are 1.2 million FOID holders in the state...... why isn't our voice being heard ??

We need to stop whining and start to become more actively involved in local politics if there is any hope of change. It's a safe assumption that the main stream media is not going to champion our cause for us. Unless we become part of the process, we will watch them legislate our guns into extinction.

IMHO
