It has come to my attention that the following bills are trying to be made into law in the state of Illinois:

SB1326 • Ten day wait for handguns
HB2513 • 50 cal Ban
HB2532 • IL Gun Dealer's Lisc.
HB2579 • Secret Compartment in cars- stricter penalty
HB2580 • Hicap Mag Ban - applies to mags, drums and belts over 10 rounds in capacity.
HB2583 • Ball Fingerprinting
HB2632 • Semiauto "assault weapons" Ban

Simply put, the politicians of Illinois are looking to ban ALL
semi-automatic rifles and ALL hi-capacity magazines. Please take note of the fact that there is no grandfather clause in these bills. If they pass, you have will have 90 days after passages to do one of the following:

- Turn in your semi-automatic rifles and hi-capacity magazines to police

- Sell your semi-automatic rifles and hi-capacity magazines.

- Move your semi-automatic rifles and hi-capacity magazines out of the state.

This level of tyranny is disgusting and un-American. It is the duty of each and every one the citizens of the state of Illinois to contact their representatives and tell them how they feel about this bill.

And how's this for irony. The following firearms manufacturers are in the state of Illinois:

- Armalite
- Springfield Armory
- D.S. Arms
- Les Baer
- Rock River Arms

As you many know, Armalite, Les Baer and Rock River Arms all make AR-15s. D.S. Arms makes FN-FAL style rifles and the Springfield Armory makes M-1s (basically M-14s). All of the weapons manufactured by these companies would be banned for sale or possession in the very state they are made in.

In closing, Illinois gun owners are in for the fight of their lives. Some of us do not have the luxury of moving ourselves or our firearms out of state. The very fact that these bill suggest that the police could knock down our doors and take out guns brings to mind images of Nazi Germany.

Given the ISRA's total impotence in advancing the rights of gun owners, I expect most or all of the bills to get passed into law.

My personal response will be to purchase MORE useful items in advance. I'm not going to turn in ANYTHING.

That sucks. Wish there was something we could do to help you out and get these bills thrown out - they should be.

Did you know that Jim Beam is distilled in a dry county - no alcohol purchases allowed - but there's the distillery......

Welcome to the brave new world of socialism. I have resided in the PRK for over a decade now and just marvel at how wonderful our society here is. And now our masters, er I mean elected officals, are again proposing a tax on ammo. I suppose we should just be thankful they continue to allow us peasants to possess ammo.
Sorry for the poor attempt a dark humor, I've just had it with all this stuff.

While it most surely sucks for you in IL, the commies in CA are proposing even further restrictions this year. Same old suspect liberal scum bag Legislators. They want a 10 cent per bullet tax now. They want ballistic fingerprintiing of all guns and on and on. I'm guessing when they need a new police chief in LA they will get Chief Moose from Maryland. He has a PHD and can't speak standard english.

Several years ago we voted for term limits in CA. Well, it turns out that after the commies served their 3 terms in the State Assembly, they run for State Senate. All in all, I think they can stay in power for 24 years if they play their cards right. The most anti gun people are doing just that and the idiots out in the big metro areas keep on voting the liberals in. Never mind that the State has a 32 Billion dollar deficit. The liberals keep their power.

I am glad I'm out of there. Been almost a year and a half and there is nothing like what is going on in CA and IL here. With Blago as Governor, you guys don't seem to have many options. I think he is like Gray Davis. He never saw a gun control bill he didn't like. My niece lives in Chicago and she is a flaming liberal anti gunner to be sure. Too bad people don't wake up.

Downstaters need to write thier reps

Write your representative or call them, downstaters need to see who Blago is for real, just another Daley machine Democrat. I have already written letters to my reps for each bill that has been proposed. Remember that downstate dems dont stand with the ones in Chicago. Notice almost all Illinois counties voted the majority republican. The only ones that didnt were Cook and the ones around St louis. Blago is not a moderate he is a gun hating liberal and we need to spread this word around.:cuss:

Been writing

I have allready written to my state rep. and state senator, I also wrote to my congressman, yes, I know he can't do anything on the state level, but at least he knows I am concerned. Actually, all three are known as friends of the gun owner, but it doesn't hurt to remind them you appreciate them and their views. One thing I allways do is ask them to advise me about their probable course of action, kind of "put it in writing". One high note is two CCW bills have been introduced, HB2821 and SB1888 so you might include these in your letters. Jim.

I doubt if all those laws pass. I expect the hidden compartment in a car will. Maybe the 10 day waiting period. Demos are in for a free ride right now because of that George Ryan thing. But to get re-elected, they just can't carry Cook county, they have to have some votes from downstate, and there are a lot of gun owners downstate.

Regardless, I have kept my Mini-14 for just such a contingency. There is no way I will sell my AR15. I will store it out of state. Then when I retire, I am out of Illinois for good, except to visit family.

Some are worse than they look. The Illinois license for dealers, for instance, is phrased as "may issue." Just like may-issue CCW, that would mean that theoretically, they could keep Illinois gun-dealer-free. Or, more likely, they could refuse to license any dealers within a hundred miles of Chicago (for now.)

That same license bill also requires that dealers report all sales within 24 hours to a central computer registry run by the State Police. They have to turn in the type, number, and serial numbers of guns you purchased plus your name, address, age and occupation. And that's not the worst of it.

It also states that upon applying for a license, you must turn in the FOID records for any sales you've made going back two years. That means if you sell ten guns over the next two years, all to Illinois residents, you must keep the FOID records as you're required to do now. But if you decide to become a dealer two years from now, all ten of those sales from when you were a PRIVATE seller now have to be registered with the central database. :barf:

So if those crazy :cuss: laws pass, what is going to happen to those gun manufacturers? Can they still make them in IL, or will they simply have to shut down and move somewhere else (I'm guessing the losses for doing this would be massive)? Looks to me like a nice little way to devastate the gun industry without bringing it to a national level.

They could still manufacture "assault weapons" for LEO and military use, but as I read it, they could not manufacture or ship such weapons for civilian buyers, even customers out of state. Springfield Armory, Les Baer and Rock River would probably be in trouble. I'm sure we'd lose them, but Daley could care less. They aren't based in Chicago.

As far as writing your representatives is concerned, I, for one have discontinued that practice as I am afraid that any letters I write will be turned over to the Illinois State Police.
