Hiya guys, long time no see.

I havent been able to tune in much...internet in and out of service at home, wife's sister lived with us for "a month", and yada yada yada etc. Anyway, when I used to tune in daily, it looked like we were just starting to shake loose from the big powder shortage. How is that going now?

Im sure their are some threads lying around about it but I kind of wanted to touch base with the fellas who taught me to handload too. (that's yall)

So are we back to the days of being able to order whatever we want and it's in stock, still having to backorder, or what? what about 22 LR?

Lord knows I dont need any, My wife would probably pack my bags if I bought any more powder, but I was just wondering and figured I'd check in too. Thanks! Tater

ps..im trying to check this at work..and hopefully will have a chance to post thank you's for any comments today, but it may take a day or two.

I cold buy powder locally anytime if needs. However, the LGS prices are 5 to 10 dollars more than I am willing to pay. I can also buy .22 ammo at the LGS. It is also priced higher than I am willing to pay.

Thanks for your reply.

I should have specified: how is availability at the online retailers? PowderValley etc?

Well be still my little heart....

Powder has been showing up, seems to have began with rifle powder and now even pistol powders. Slightly hit and skip but none the less powder and primers for the most part are available.

22 LR is also turning up with some distributors having dropped quantity restrictions. The more expensive target loads seem to be more available but also the standard 22 LR flavors have been showing up at a reasonable price both online and at retail brick and mortar. Locally I have seen plenty at Gander Mountain, Dicks and Cabela's.

Some seem to feel the brick and mortar returns are more geographic. I can only speak for NE Ohio but about now wish I could speak for a warmer climate. :)

Nice to see you visiting.

Ron

In Coastal Oregon rifle powders are showing up along with Winchester primers. Pistol powders, other primer brands, and 22 rimfire ammo still scarce...

No, not quite for online retailers. While availability of more popular pistol powders have improved, things are definitely not back to the days of being able to order whatever.

Just last week, HP-38/Zip/Titegroup/BE-86/Universal/Power Pistol/No. 5 became more available with online vendors in 1/4/8 lb containers (but HP-38/Zip sold out fast) along with WSF/N340/AutoComp/CFE Pistol/HS-6/Longshot etc. which are relatively staying in stock with most online vendors - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=10165792#post10165792

22LR has become more available with online vendors but higher prices remain. I have actually given up on 22LR and decided to buy 9mm carbines to shoot reloads at comparable cost to 22LR.

Hey ya big Spud!:D

Things are a little better for handgun powder online. Rifle powders are pretty much there. Primers are available. (online)

22lr is available if you want to pay $50 a brick plus shipping

Even though I live in a pretty big City(cities) there has never been a store that sold supplies other than a Bass Pro which is to far away and their prices are too high.

I'm in California . The gun ranges I go to have powder now .
I only use Hodgdon - and had to order from internet in Nov .
Last month they had Hodgdon CFE pistol at the gun show in SAN
Fransico .
I buy locally if I can - no hazmat fee and way too many gun stores
have closed - I am a touch-e feely-ee person and want stuff fast not shipped and wonder if someone stole it .

Thanks guys- Some posts from the heavy hitters! Glad to hear from you guys

There is a thread think its the 9.mm is the new .22 as far as finding range brass. I remember you :)! Things have got better some. Im loading some berbs. 180 g. fp.s for my mech tech upper w/red dot for steel. found a use for that good old P.P. .

Taterhead ...

Good to see you back ... my LGS is seeing more and more powder both Rifle and Pistol powders ... primers are not back up to the pre-scare levels ... some are there but prices are still way high ...

The self contains many Alliant and Hodgdon Rifle powders ... Hodgdon pistol powders mostly .... mostly Federal primers ...

.22 LR ammo is still few and far between with high prices .... target grade at $85/500 ... I don't think I could shoot much of that ... .22 Mag are never seen ... plenty of .17 HRM everywhere...

.... Glad to hear from you guys
We almost gave you up for lost, Tater :D
Slowly but surely, 22LR showing up near the urban jungle.
Off & on for powder availability @ the LGS. Did ya get a chance to pick-up some of those S&B primers when Cabela's had the big sale?

powders, primers and 22LR come and go, depending where you look. Availability seems to be regional. Some people claim "it's ALWAYS at my Walmart". Others say "it's NEVER at my Walmart" -- Prices are up since the 1st of the year.

You know, the same as it was a month ago

Hope you're free of the SIL now.

There are about 10 wall marts with in 30 miles of me .
None carry anything related to guns .

Wall mart has an online order , but they won't deliver anything - powder , bullets - etc to where I live .

Thanks fellas..Sounds like things are a little better

Oh me it's great to hear from everyone. I needed a smile, knew I could count on you guys to crack me up-

Hope you're free of the SIL now.
Yes. Well, kind of. Gone from our house, but not far enough gone.

Good to hear from you, I thought maybe you blew yourself up
No. Not yet anyway:D

We almost gave you up for lost, Tater

LOL, Im starting to get a little more time to snoop around a bit I hope.
A big problem is that I lost my shooting spot (dump site leveled all the sudden, now something under construction there)...and I worked so hard to find that little spot. Havent been able to put much time and energy into finding another one. But I shall.

The best thing - Ive been able to avoid getting any warnings from the mods this way:)

Sorry, back on topic now.

I've been poking around a bit today and noticed the first site I went to had AA5 and Silhouette, primers etc in stock (cabelas). Much better shape indeed these days. That would've caused a small riot here a few months back.

I was at Cabela's in Reno in Nov . The site said they had powder - they didn't .
I got some 38 and 25 bullets , a range bag - they did not have any CCI mag primers .
Maybe because before Xmas - but still a let down .

Dang.... i figuered you won the lottery, was running for office or just got your 5000+ posts and split on us:neener: Either way glad to see ya posting once again and hope everything is going your way!

I have not been paying that much attention to the online inventory, but from what I have seen, it is getting much better.

There aren't any decent retailers that close to me. I usually wait for the gun shows. One vendor, that is 2 hours from me, goes to all the gun shows so that is where I usually deal with him. He sent out an email not long ago that stated he had EVERY Hodgdon, IMR, and Winchester powders in stock. His prices at the shows are typically $22 per pound for pistol powders, and that includes tax.
