I am going to go to a Concealed Carry Seminar where I had to reserve a seat a couple months ago. Me and my buddy are attending.

I left out names of these politicians.

I'm sure I'll learn something. Looks it's more directed toward the laws rather than having much or anything to do with CC techniques. I will return to this post and give my report.
If there's a Q&A session, it might get amusing.

State Rep. ___________ and State Rep. __________ will host a concealed carry seminar at 6 p.m.
District Attorney ___________ will discuss Pennsylvania’s Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground laws, County Sheriff ___________ will explain rules and regulations surrounding licenses to carry firearms, a police officer will discuss how to safely interact with the police when carrying a firearm and an officer from the Pennsylvania Game Commission will discuss carrying laws as they relate to hunting seasons.

good to see public officials are out talking to the public.

no doubt their primary message will be to assume the appropriate posture of obsequiousness when approached by officialdom, a message I am not thrilled with, but it pretty much is that way for now and better then being killed for not assuming such a posture.

Now that Kathleen Kane is out due to criminal charges, please bring up the issue of CCW permit recognition. Hoping for a fix to her mess.

Here's a short report as promised. Just got home.

This was the 9th such seminar presented. The fire hall was filled to capacity of about 300 people.

The State Representative's office can be given credit for rounding these Law Enforcement people up.
The people who spoke were very informative and to the point.

The District Attorney was excellent in the basic platform ... determining when self defense is justified. Imminent Danger, The Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground was explained very well.

The Sheriff gave reasons for revocation or denial of CCW licenses. Also spoke of occasional rushes at the office to get licenses after current events of mass shootings, terrorism, and politicians who threaten to take away our guns. :uhoh:
He also stressed that one who does carry ( referring to first time handgunners mostly ) better be familiar with the handguns, how they operate and have some training in how to use them. Also the importance of having the mindset to use it in SD if necessary.

Police officers explained how to react when approached by them if you are carrying or concealing a firearm. They gave good reasons to disclose this immediately.

The Game Warden ( for lack of a title ) explained the laws about CC while hunting.
I found it worthwhile to attend and while I was pretty much up to snuff on most of what was presented, I did learn a few things.
I would recommend attending to anyone as it was a good refresher seminar for those who are familiar with these things and certainly for the newcomer as well. I didn't detect any political agenda, it was pretty staightforward.

The sheriff jokingly said that it was probably the safest room in the county tonight. :D

We got a thick booklet of the State gun laws and regulations, a nice booklet to record our firearms, descriptions, ser no's, and free targets. Lots of em.
So there you have it ... I approve!

Sounds like a good event. It would be nice if there were more of them. The side benefit is officials and firearms owners interacting and improving their understanding of each other.

No it had nothing to do with Kathleen Kane and I'll keep my hopes for her to myself.
However, it appears these seminars are taking place in many districts around the state of PA. Google Results
There was no charge for this or any of these events. Everyone was local including the "authorities" and State Reps.
They volunteered to be there on their own time. I would imagine that the staff of the Reps will get paid or are salary. I don't know?
This was mentioned that the only cost was printed material, which looked somewhat expensive and the state used our tax money to make them.

The policemen have thier hands full in this district
CRIME RATE LINK getting 13 ( out of 100 being safest ) and for a reference I googled Chicago for example, which has a crime rate of 12 out of 100.
I moved out of the city a while back ( Thank God ) as it continues to deteriorate horribly for the past 35 years. I am enjoying the country life but unfortunately I have to go into the city a couple times a week.

Back to the police ... I sensed some stress they are under. They weren't all warm and fuzzy about being there.
They seemed very pro 2A and seemed to only want to help us out so we don't get tangled up in being interpreted as the bad guy.
They explained that when they encounter anyone it could be any situation good or the bad. They don't know who we are when approaching a vehicle.
So they have to approach every situation with caution. Since there may be a gun on the person or in the car, on the street or at a residence where they respond, it is best for us to tell them we have a firearm and when asked for LTC cards to present them and not touch or show a firearm. Just to tell them where it is.
I can see their point. I am willing to co-operate with the law enforcement. Why not? If they were pulling over a "bad guy" I would rather they could determine what they were up against and handle it from there. I don't want them to mistake me for one so I understand it is better to co-operate.
