I'm doing it! Building a fireball...

Well the barrel arrived and it's nice. Dropped my dummy round in the chamber and it fits perfectly. So I got a patriot arms barrel nut and a ptg go gauge on the way. When they get here I get to put it all together! Still stock shopping...

So the Patriot Valley Barrel nut arrived by the time I got home from church today, it spins on the threads beautifully, but the collar meant to cover the exposed barrel threads won't fit over the non threaded portion of the barrel shank. So, I either salvage the factory nut, which may not be possible, modify the Patriot Valley Barrel nut, or turn down the shank of the barrel. Two of those options are going to require a lathe, and one a special barrel wrench. So, a little delay. I'll get some pictures up later to make it clear...

Did they mess up the dimensions? It looks like the nut should go on lot further, as it is now there doesn't seem there is any thread exposed to thread into the action.

Well I couldn't wait for the headspace gauge to arrive, so with a shot of courage (pun intended) I grabbed my pipe wrench and busted the lock nut loose! Spun the new barrel on, and man it looks nice.
Even better though, the old style American magazine feeds my dummy cartridge as if it was factory designed to! It's perfect. So once the actual headspace gauge get here I'll finish it up, make up some ammo, and go shoot this Lil guy.

Side note: I had originally thought that I had to use the AR-15 mag stock I have for this build. I took the action out of the ar mag stock, and the receiver is different than the old style receiver I'm using for this build. Don't think they are interchangeable magazine systems between the old and new receiver.
