God Speed,

The New Knighthood

Who gives him the Bath?
"I," said the wet,
Rank-Jungle-sweat,
"I'll give him the Bath!"

Who'll sing the psalms?
"We," said the Palms.
"Ere the hot wind becalms,
"We'll sing the psalms."

Who lays on the sword ?
"I," said the Sun,
Before he has done,
"I'll lay on the sword."

"Who fastens his belt?
"I," said Short-Rations,
" I know all the fashions
"Of tightening a belt!"

Who gives him his spur?
"I," said his Chief,
Exacting and brief,
"I'll give him the spur."

Who'll shake his hand?
"I," said the Fever,
"And I'm no deceiver,
"I'll shake his hand."

Who brings him the wine?
"I," said Quinine,
"It's a habit of mine.
"I'11 come with his wine."

Who'll put him to proof?
"I," said All Earth.
"Whatever he's worth,
"I'll put to the proof."

Who'll choose him for Knight?
"I," said his Mother,
"Before any other,
"My very own Knight."

And after this fashion, adventure to seek,
Sir Galahad made--as it might be last week!

I visited Fort Sill when I was stationed at Sheppard AFB. Sometimes you'll feel like you're out in the middle of nowhere, but it's not too bad.

gorgoroth, a little after you are through there at Sill, my son will be arriving there after PCS'ing from the 25th ID (now serving in the sand box).
Take care of yourself, keep your powder dry, your weapons loaded, and your confidence that there are many millions of us who will be praying for you.

Thanks for serving your Country!

Hey Lil Bro:

God speed is right! This will change your life, forever for the better. As I have said many times, not having served in the military is one of my greatest regrets in life. You will see places that most people cannot even dream about. You are going to travel the USA and the world! I'm real proud of your decision. While you're there, if there is anything you ever need, you know where to find all of your THR family. We'll be here for you! Nice photos too...gotta love those ARMY shirts! Just think...no more buying ammo...and you get to fire genuine Colt M-16s! Wow...I just turned 6 shades of green envy. :)

Big Bro (Doc2005)

Best of luck to you. Thanks for your service. And just remember...it's only 9 weeks haha!

You're going to Ft Sill at the best time of year, it's 100 there. Doesn't matter if you want to know the degrees F or the humidity, the answer is just 100.

Good luck and stay away from the massage parlors in Lawton. Also, as a cannon cocker, you'll probably have OSUT, which is just like one continuous basic training. They Drill Sgts have you for a long time so they can really stretch things out.

good luck. listen to your drill sergeant, and watch out for your battle buddy.

Thank you for doing what you do.

Try to return to us with all of your original parts attached and functioning, including your hide.

Well, Lad . . .

Ye have our prayers and thanks.

'Tis a hard thing ye'll do.

Conduct ye'self with honor.

Make your comrades proud.

Make your enemy quake with dread.

And come safe home.

Go, with our blessings.

The queen of battle ARTILLIARY. Get the Thrift Savings Plan when you go in, you will never miss the money and save a ton by the time you get out. Follow orders through and through. Stay out of trouble and you will get promoted. Do the Military correspondance courses and max out on that. I assume that going in as PFC means that you probably have college. Max the PT Test always and in within your first enlistment you will make Sergeant E-5.
