I like the Guide Guns...mine anyways. I handload/shoot 405 grain Remington bullets in it. In this pic it has mounted a 2-7 Leupold Vari X II in Warne bases/rings.

I've since replaced that scope and mount combination with standard Weaver detachable rings and base and a Weaver Classic 1-3X scope. I like it much better in this configuration than the way it is pictured.

Mine is one of the older ones with the ported barrel...and pretty wood! :D

congrats on the new gun!

I had one and loved it. Had to sell it though. Look into skinner sights.

I do have a whole reloading set for it. Dies, bullet mold, starline brass, even shell boxes.

PM me if interested.

I've had a Marlin guide gun for many years and used out mostly for bear hunting. It's very accurate with Remington 405 g soft points and Reloader 9. It shoots just over an inch at 100 yards.
I put a recoil absorbing pad on it, as the stock one is worthless for absorbing recoil.
I tried a low power scope on it, 2x, but traded out out for a 3x9. For close work, that tends to be fast action, I use XS sights front and back. They are great, but if I was doing it again, of get rear sight that has heavy ears on either side of the peep ring.
I also put the XS rail on top so I could use various scopes and open sights. It's a little pricey, but I really like the set up.
To smooth out the action, I'd work the lever repeatedly while watching TV. It worked, and it's smooth for a Marlin. Have fun!
