I was going to take a Marlin 39AS to the range, but it got pretty snowy. I don't trust my fellow Tarheels on snow/ice.
I am feeling extraordinarily happy and proud to see yet another peaceful transition between Presidents in the US. I am not sure that everyone who lives safely between these shores appreciates how rare that is, and how lucky we are.
Much of my thinking about American values and rights was crystalized by my experiences living in Yemen (then North Yemen) for 2 1/2 years, and then Mogadishu for 18 months. Sweating in Mogadishu watching the country fall apart, with all the locals expecting blood in the streets, I really appreciated the peaceful transition.
We aren't hunkered down at home, afraid the other side will win and come and slaughter us and our families.
A day of gratitude for that.
