As close to a BBQ rig as I get. I inherited this from my cousin this year. As close to the epitome of a "Devil Dog" as any Marine will every be.

RIP Ray,

Semper Fi, if an old Airedale is allowed to express that sentiment.

PS. Forgive the crappy cell phone photos.

In the Navy, aviation people are airedales. AIR-dale, get it?
Yep, and US Navy Sailors who were (are?) not aviation people were called "Blackshoes". That's because people in the regular Navy wore black shoes with their uniforms, while Navy pilots wore brown shoes. Either term, whether "Blackshoe" or "Airedale," was preceded by a vulgar word or two. I was a "blankety-blank" Airedale, and I called the Navy Cooks on the carriers that made watery powdered eggs, "blankety-blank" Blackshoes.:D
But just to keep this gun related, I think this is what a lot of Navy Aviators (Airedales) are carrying nowadays - https://www.sigsauer.com/store/p229-m11-a1-compact.html

Actually, Airedales are USAF troops. I don't think it's used all that much anymore.
