Love my Ruger. The buckmark also has a very good reputation. I'd recommend either.

Another pleased BuckMarck owner

Deadly accurate right out of the box (no adjustments needed), still on 1000's of rounds later (can't recommend any aftermarket mags; feed through Browning clips and you shouldn't have any problems).

I call mine Col. Plink.

What's your budget? If your shooting soda cans then the Walther P22 or SIG Mosquito will do. If you want to really enjoy the accuracy that a .22 autoloading pistol can provide & shoot bottle caps, then stick with a Ruger Mk ? or a Browning Buckmark. If you want to head North of there, go with; a S&W 41, Pardini or *Hammerli (*NOT a Trailside). The boys over at the Rimfire Central forum have worn this topic out. I've tried the P22, High Standard Victor 10X, Pardini, S&W 41, and a BUNCH of Rugers & Buckmarks. I now have only one Ruger (Mk II) & one Buckmark (5.5 Match Target), both with a touch of custom work. I'm settled...for now.

my budget is fairly slim as of now. but i am hopefully going to be getting a sum of cash shortly that might change my situation a bit.

I have a Beretta U22 Neos. It is extremely accurate, easy to use, and a snap to strip and clean. I use it, my sons LOVE to shoot it, and soon my wife will be shooting it (but she doesn't know that yet!) :)

here's what I have owned, various Ruger 22's, Browning Buckmark camper, Walther P22, S&W 22 ( not the 41 ) newest model, Sig Mosquito. I Kept the Browning and the Sig Skeeter.
The Browning has been an excellent gun, feeds most anything and is accurate and has a Beautiful trigger.
The Mosquito has fed everything 100% except CCI velocitor which stovepipes the very last round. The skeeter can shoot a ragged 5 shot hole at 50 feet using CCI SMG ( small game bullet ) done this more than once. The skeeter is a different gun than the Browning being SA/DA, having a decock as well as a safety and is basically a scaled down P series Sig.

Price wise around here I can get a new Browning for $329.00, forgot which model, while the cheapest I've seen the Sig basic skeeter is $349.00.

They really are 2 very different guns, the beauty of the Sig is you can practice double taps and double action and its like dirt cheap practice session with your centerfire Sig.
While I consider the Browning more of a target/plinker gun and its single action only.

My P22 was a jama-matic POS as was my S&W. The Rugers fed most anything but the triggers really sucked and the grip angle sucked as well. The new 22/45 may be better but for the money between a Ruger and Browning its a no brainer for me, Browning ALL the way.

thank you to every one who has contributed to this thread... i think i am going to go with the cz75 kadet. i like that it looks and functions like a gun that i am already familiar with(the cz75). thanks again.

No one has mentioned my favorite. I built up a $99 1911 frame for my Ciener .22 target kit. That gives me a lightweight 1911 in .22LR.

My 2nd choice has so far eluded me: An older Llama .22, which looks like a miniature 1911.

For target shooting, heavy pistol will just tire you immediately and lose accuracy.
While it's true you will get tired and lose accuracy, in my opinion, a slightly heavier gun will make you more accurate at first. (I said slightly, not a 5 pound cannon)

The Ruger Mark pistols are great. They are rock solid reliable and will shoot just about any kind of .22LR ammo. I also have a P22 and I am very fond of it. However, mine is reliable only with CCI mini-mags. Accuracy is only "combat adequate," still the P22 is a lot of fun.
