I'll start.

1) The Glock carbine will be entering production

2) HK will still hate you

3) Lasermax will be in the business of manufacturing weapons, not sights.

4) The 9mm vs .45 debate will have been resolved.

5) There will be Tannerite bullets. No, you won't be able to buy them.

6) Campus carry will be mandatory for all college students.

2020 - not 2040. It was a typo - my mistake.

By 2040, we will have moved to plasma ray guns, all projectile firing guns will be antiques and looked at with curiosity, just as we look at ancient spears. So we'll predict only 12 years into the future.

STI will gain significant market share due to the brave step of refusing to sell guns to California
Speaking of California, they will ban guns outright, thus ensuring that there is no crime whatsoever there ever again, cuz it's all the fault of ebil scawy guns (Also they will ban pools, fatty foods, automobiles, meat, vegetables, and anyone who doesn't use the word "trippy")

We will probably have directed energy weapons, but the S&W Model 10 and the Colt 1911 will still be around. Probably the SAA, too.

We will have ray gun vs. projectile gun debates, while the 9mm vs. .45 debate still rages on.

All military forces will use 2mm rifles.

Armed citizens will either be welcome and accepted members of society, or will be hiding in the hills and swamps. I see it going one way or the other.

The rest of the world may finally have enough and start to re-claim their liberties.

Everyone will STILL not be driving flying cars, and fast food restaurants will STILL not be staffed by robots.
