100yd. rifle and pistol range, large archery field, fishing.

We should make an attempt to get together next spring at a range somewhere and shoot for a day/weekend.

Example..... Just south of Huntington, IN the Indiana DNR built a 1.4 million dollar range that's within a couple of miles of a couple of motels. Range cost is $4/day or $80/year. 41 positions, 25-100 yards, it's covered, but outside, rangemaster on site. Just a thought........

I guess i'll chime in, since Bazooka Joe just told me about this thread(I've been super busy at work, no play time online). I live in Chandler, Warrick Co., about 7 miles from Evansville. I've shot at Strictly Shooting once, been with Bazooka Joe a few times out in Yankeetown and a few other ranges. My favorite range though 'round these parts is my back yard.

Haha, missed a decent thread the months I was away. Pity there isn't more of you down here in SW Indiana. Still trying to find a place past 100 yards to shoot my .50 :/ The only range I know of down here that's over 100 yards doesn't allow .50 cals due to Alcoa owning the property and forbidding it because the bullet might make it to the highway. Never been to the range, but if they're that worried, they need a better berm.

I actually sent emails to everyone on my buddy list, but there weren't too many people in my area to throw something quick and convenient together...But I would still like to get something together sometime in the not-so-distant future.

Anyone feel free to take initiative if you would like, it would obviously have to be somewhere around Indy, which would be totally fine with me because one of my best friends lives there.

Someone familiar with the Indianapolis area would probably have to be the one orchestrating, since I have no idea where we'd meet or shoot.

Bloomington is a nice town, if only someone would put a nice university in that town it'd be allright.

makes me wonder: What is the perfect gun for a hoosier? It's gotta be able to kill deer for sure.

I've never been, but Don's Guns has a decent sized indoor range. Probly be better to be on a big outdoor public range.

Pretty limited if it has to be able to kill a deer, since centerfires aren't allowed.

Except, as of last year(i think) you can use pistol caliber rifles now!

So maybe a flavor of a Marlin 1894? I've got an 1894s myself...I still prefer my AR15 though.

yeah, pistol calibers are allowed now. Gun stores around here didnt have any pistol caliber rifles a week into deer season. single shots and levers where all gone.
