Inexpensive Night Vision: Sightmark, ATN, Pulsar or Other

Whoops, got my numbers conflated above.

The IR illuminator is ATN's 850 supernova, the *laser rangefinder* is the 1500. Durp. :)

Also bear in mind the pics posted were reformatted twice (once to trim the video, another time to upload), so there was a lot of resolution lost in that process.

The scope takes 1080p video @ 30, 60, or 120 frames per second. So it does look much better in original format.

I skipped the first and second generations of ATN. 640x480 was unpalatable, and the second gen 1080p scopes also didn't have a fine enough resolution for me to give much thought in to ordering them.

4k changed my mind on that, though. It's a really clean look through the scope, very clear.

ATN also took some incredible steps to level out the sensor and display. I spent over an hour precisely aligning the scope body to the rifle, on the vertical axis, and the display / sensor are also in perfect alignment.

That impressed me, and set my mind a little more at ease about their built in ballistics package (which I am waiting for a calm wind day to zero and test).

A *tiny* misalignment of either the optics sensor or display and you'd get less than good results at long range. But it appears ATN nailed it.

The only thing that concerns me, is lifespan; with an internal non-replaceable lithium ion battery, it's just a matter of time before the scope will have to go in for a refit. Those do have a limited lifespan, as we all know with our smartphones... :)
