Afternoon folks,

I've been doing some google searching with little luck, I'm trying to find out any information regarding a Schrade Scrimshaw SC507 lock-back knife. I was given this knife for doing some roof work, and I know Schrade (USA) knives 'might' be worth more than they appear. Just trying to see when this knife may have been produced, or if anyone has previously heard about this model with the bone-type handle and engravings.

Schrade Scrimshaws were pretty common. Check on ebay and search for Schrade Scrimshaw, you will usually get a number of hits.

According to Levine's 2nd edition the 507 lockback with bighorn sheep was produced in 1982 and as of 1989 was valued at $30. Most recent info I have.

Thanks HiWayMan, that is one heckuva price jump... according to ebay (which of course is the absolute truth of prices... *sigh*) people are selling those 507's for $145?!

Well, at least it is good to know that this is a Made in the USA knife and it has some history on it. Still not sure if I'll use this as much as my Delica that was lost during the roof work, but... ah well.

Thanks again.

Dust 101, when I saw you mention the $145 I just had to have a look. LOL Typical e-bay power seller these days. Got a crapload of listings with not a single bid. I picked up two 507's, a 6OT and a couple other USA Schrades new in beat up boxes a couple years ago for $20 each (I posted pics on here at the time), and a new in the box Sharpfinger last year for $15. There are so many of these things still around I don't think I'll ever get rich off them. But they are nice knives. Good users if I was so inclined, but heavy and I don't need that much knife in my day to day life. My brother was going to take the 507 I gave him deer hunting last year, but the sheath kept popping open so he left it home and took his usual field knife. Anyone have a good quick fix for a weak sheath snap?

alias - I totally agree, kinda my farcical statement of ebay being the way to find a price point :)

If I could sell this knife for $145 I'd do it in a heartbeat and pick up a Benchmade or another Spyderco in a heartbeat. Kinda miffed as my delica 4 slipped out of my gloved hand and tumbled down the roof to the alley 4 stories below. By the time I got down there I could not find it at all, no idea where it landed. Still mad about it, but my friend offered me this knife as he felt bad about it. It is a nice knife but just to large to use as my everyday knife.

As usual, I come to THR and find some good info, regardless of what I'm asking about. :)
