installing new trigger and hammer in model 19 Smith

I am wanting to install a target trigger and hammer on my old model 19. This trigger and hammer had been on this revolver but removed by the armorer in my police unit over thirty years ago. Are there any pictures and or videos showing the removal of the small pins and parts on the trigger and hammer? I have a punch set but the small pins in the trigger especially do not want to budge.

Yeah I saw the model 10 pictures but it did not go into the actual breaking down of the trigger and hammer components which would then be installed in the new trigger and hammer. Pin removal etc,. There is quite a bit of difference between the 10 and the 19 triggers and hammer parts it appears. Thanks for the response and manual name.

The Kuhnhausen S&W manual is the best source of info for working on your Smith.
I'm assuming you need to transfer the three trigger pins, torsion spring and plunger. The hammer has three pins also, stirrup, sear and nose pin. A bench block and the proper fitting punch should get it done. The pins are a interference fit (larger than the hole) Some penetrating oil overnight, and a little heat (heat gun/hair drier) helps

No, there's not much difference at all. The instructions for one will work for the other, and indeed in the Kuhnhausen manual ALL S&W model triggers and hammers are covered in one example (I believe the example gun used was a 686, actually).

The Kuhnhausen book will sort you out as suggested already.

The pins should move fairly easily unless that armorer took it upon himself to peen them in for some reason. Some old time army armorers were trained to peen most everything and it became a habit that's hard to break, seems like. An old dog/new trick kind of thing.

If you have both hammers and both triggers all your instructions are within. Just put the parts into the new exactly as they were in the old, one at a time. It's very straightforward - the only trick is the need to wind the hand tension spring as the hand pins slide in, but it's not a difficult thing to do. The sear spring will be hard to find if you drop it on a carpeted floor.
