I’ve got an older Savage Model 10 in .223 with some cheapo scope on it and always wanted a higher caliber rifle with irons. I was wondering what one could expect to pay to have a gunsmith install iron sights on it. Any recommendations on a good set of sights? Nothin too fancy, the simpler the better.

While I got ya here does anyone know of a reputable shops or gunsmiths near the Front Range of CO?

Hey, I have been trying to do the same thing to my Ruger 10/22 LVT. I have found 2 companies that sell add on sights Williams Guns Sights and New England Custom Gun Service. I’m still trying to decide which one. Hope this helps you.

Skinner makes sights that would fit on a model 10. Model 860. He sells front sights as well that would need a dovetail cut. Or you could solder on front sights. Rear would need to be drilled and tapped with Skinners I believe as I dont believe they fit into the factory holes. Figure about $100 for the sights alone.

Figure $25-50 per hole on drill and tap work, $100+ on someone who still silver solders, plus rebluing if on a blued rifle. Plus parts cost.
