When removing the Safety/Bolt release from a Remington trigger to install on a Shilen trigger, a small part fell out -- later my wife found a bb sized stainless ball bearing under the chair I was sitting in.

When I installed the parts (before the ball bearing was found), there is noticible lateral play in the safety, and there is no resistance/click when the safety is moved back and forth (from safe to fire).

What have I done wrong?

TIA

Paul

the ball bearing is the detent for the safety, that is what offers resistance in the movement of the safety leaver.on the rem. part, there ias a horse shoe looking spring clip, the ball bearing fits in a small hole under that clip when it is installed, which slides through a slotted pin that holds the bolt release to the trigger assy.if memory serves, on the after market trigger i can't help you, there might be a corasponding hole as i the factory part for the ball.

Thanks Paul!

The Shilen is just like the Rem Factory unit. I emailed Shilen Sunday night(which I should have thought of first) and I had a response from Shilen the next day before noon. Excellent service. The tolerences were slightly different on the Shilen, and I had a heck of a time getting the little horseshoe shapped clip to fit right. Anyway, it's all back together now and everything works fine.
