I am looking at getting an integrally suppressed 10/22. I am just having a hard time finding any good reviews on them besides manufactures postings. The ones I have seen online are Yankee Hill and AAC. Are there more manufactures that I did not find? Anyone have any experiences with them? And do I need to buy the whole gun or just the barrel? Also before anyone says get a can because you can use it on more then one gun I do not want a can.

Thanks for all the info

Right I know that but I have seen offering for just the barrel or for the whole gun. Is it worth while to buy one and then get the barrel or buy the whole thing for a dealer?

Check out Thompson Machine - they offer a few different options. I've heard a few of their rimfire cans, and all you hear when you fire them is the click of the bolt and the round striking the target. Good stuff.

IIRC most integrally suppressed barrels (at least for the 10/22) are about the size of the standard bull barrel, so as long as you have one of those stocks, you should be good. If you already have a 10/22, there shouldn't be any need to buy a new one. I would also recommend looking into Thompson Machine, I've heard nothing but good things about their cans.

Rail Driver, any chance that one of those cans was a Poseidon 9mm on a .22? I've been trying to find someone who's heard that combination first hand to comment on the sound levels...

I've never heard ANY 9mm suppressor on a .22lr, though I don't imagine it would be very effective considering the bore of a 9mm suppressor is considerably larger than the bore of a .22 barrel.

Consider how a suppressor works - it redirects, slows, and helps cool the rapidly expanding gasses coming out of the muzzle - The larger the gap between the bullet and the bore of the suppressor, the more gas will escape around the bullet. This translates into much less effective sound suppression.

All the suppressors I've used myself or heard fired have been mounted on a host in the caliber it was designed for.

Suppressors on subcaliber hosts actually work pretty well. A 9mm going through a .45 Osprey or TiRant is a bit louder than it would be with a 9mm suppressor, but not by much (9mm vs 11.5mm). Definitely still hearing safe, especially if wet. The main reason that rimfires aren't shot through centerfire cans is because of the fouling, but that doesn't matter as much with user-serviceable cans.

The main reason I ask about the Poseidon is that it is a wet and wiped can, meaning that the neoprene wipes only have a hole large enough for the bullet to pass through, no bigger. That means that the gasses would still be mostly contained within the suppressor even though the baffles are still designed for a bullet 9mm in diameter as opposed to a 5.6mm diameter bullet. The .22 is only 3.4mm smaller than the 9x19 and has a good bit less gas propelling it, so I don't see why it would be a problem.

I am sure your fully aware of this but a integral limits ya to just the one rifle or Pistol. Running the numbers a nice ss sparrow or SWR specterII will be just as quiet and a whole lot easier to clean than a integral. Like I said I'm sure ya know all of this.

I have shot many platforms made by John's Guns of Coleman, TX. They offer various integral suppressed rifles including the popular 10/22. Cant say anything bad about them, their stuff is as good as any. The Ruger 77/44 is a real hoot to shoot with subsonics.

Check them out here>>>>http://www.fullysuppressed.com

I was at the Silencers are Legal shoot in Dallas last weekend, I shot the YHM and Thompson. I have a integral from another smaller manufacturer right now. I think you would have to put them all side by side and fire them one after another to figure out which is quieter. All you hear on any of them is action noise, I have not shot the AAC yet, I didn't see it at the show but I might have just missed it. I know there are several other manufacturers making them, but I have not shot them.

Most of the integrals have a 1" barrel and most 10/22's use a .920 barrel, so some stocks will need to be opened up to accommodate that. I have a Axiom stock on my integral 10/22 right now and it makes a nice looking gun. The 10/22 tacticool stock would look great also.

Keechi Creek Arms (KCA) had a integral 77/357 that was unbelievable. Hard hitting and stupid quiet.

I've shot a lot of 147 gr 9mm through my .45 Osprey -- minimal difference, although .22 (5.56) is a good bit smaller compared to 9mm than 9mm is to .45ACP (11.5).

IMHO the main issue with shooting .22lr through a can not specific for .22lr is the lead build up -- .22lr cans are made to come apart and clean the lead out every 500-1000 rounds, most center-fire suppressors aren't made to do this.

While its true integral suppressors limit you to "one gun" it is a gun that pretty much otherwise handles same as the non-suppressed version except for the noise.

I'm considering one of the Thompson Machine 10/22 integrally suppressed barrels, a bit more expensive than my Sparrow and not as versatile but I think it'd be cool and a lot of fun!

Here you go, my set up is good, but this one is better. Sweet balanced pistols. Feel great in your hand. http://tbasuppressors.com/suppressors-2/integral-pistol/integral-qas-mk-ii-mk-iii-2245/

These guys are usually at the gun shows and I have handled some of the different TBA ruger .22's they have. They have them in stock.

Here's an integral TBA with a TBA bolt lock.

Thompson Machines Operative is probelly the best buy on the market for the money and preformace. Ive had a TacSol Sawtooth MC that was pretty awsome as well. Skip the YHM, been there done that....
