Using Hodgdon Longshot and 165gr Rainer Plated FP bullet, OAL 1.125, I got the following results, temp was about 90*F.

Charge Avg. ES Std Dev. Firearm

7.1gr 1013 24.8 10.8 PX4, Pistol 4" Barrel
7.1gr 1299 70.8 29.6 CX4, Carbine 16.6" Barrel

7.3gr 1038 34.4 17.5 PX4, Pistol 4" Barrel
7.3gr 1313 51.7 20.8 CX4, Carbine 16.6" Barrel

7.5gr 1070 28.1 13.2 PX4, Pistol 4" Barrel
7.5gr 1332 55.1 23.5 CX4, Carbine 16.6" Barrel

7.7gr 1089 29.9 12.6 PX4, Pistol 4" Barrel
7.7gr 1340 72.8 30.6 CX4, Carbine 16.6" Barrel

I was a little concerned about the velocity of the plated bullets out of the carbine but the accuracy was excellent, I noted the 7.3gr & 7.5gr loads were best out of the carbine.

I was a little surprised the ES and Std Dev. increase so much in the carbine vs the pistol but it didn't effect accuracy. Average increase in velocity from 4" to 16" barrel was 268fps.

Wow, that's a bigger spread in velocity than I would have thought, moving from short to a longer barrel. Is that pretty normal?

How do you like the cx4? Im in the market. Trying to find a sub2000.

Thanks for posting.

I expected to get 150fps extra, I was shock to get >250fps. I should check my HS6 loads and see what kind of difference they produce.

I really like the CX4, I can shoot it indoors during our long WI winters. I was looking at other pistol caliber carbines, the CX4 and HiPoint were the only ones I could find, the Sub2000 was on the wish list due to weight and size. I already had the magazines for my PX4 pistol so the CX4 was an easy decision for me. I don't like the iron sights on the CX4 and added a TRS-25 red dot after only a couple of range outings.

That's about right, I'm seeing 200-250fps increase from a 4" S&W to my Kel Tec Sub 2K 9mm. Ranger T, 115gr +P+, 1324fps from the hand gun, 1576fps from the Sub 2k. 124gr Bayou Bullet, 5.3gr Power Pistol, 1053fps vs 1313fps. Hornady XTP 147gr, 5.2gr Power Pistol, 1027fps vs 1241fps. Precision Delta 124gr JHP, 6.1gr Power Pistol, 1164fps vs 1373fps.

Where do you guys find these pistol carbines?

I mail ordered a 9x19 AR-15 upper and put it on a lower.

250 fps is what I see with the 9x19 AR-15. Maybe a little less with a Kahr Thompson in 45 ACP but I have slept since then.
