The other day I was fooling around with some .308 loads and wondered what effect, if any, a LEE FCD would have on concentricity.
The cases were all neck-turned and trimmed. Bullets were Nosler Custom Competition.
I checked 20 rounds for runout and found that most were under 0.0015" total run-out but a few were as high as 0.003".
I then ran all 20 rounds through the LEE Factory Crimp Die, set to just "squeeze" the case neck but not enough to distort the bullet.
I checked concentricity again. Two observations. Those rounds that were "near perfect" were still. Those with higher run-out had their runout reduced by an average of half.
Just an interesting "experiment".
Has anyone else had similar results? Or not?
