I came across an interesting find today to add to my milsurp collection and I got it for a really great price which is even better!

It's a WW2 era Mauser HSC with the rare phosphate finish and the Eagle over WaA135 acceptance mark. All the numbers match and there are no import markings so I'm guessing this was probably a WW2 bring-back.

It came with a holster as well but unfortunately a previous owner saw fit to alter it by cutting out a section:banghead:

The sticker price was $275 but I negotiated the price to $250 so I walked out very satisfied.

Very nice find. I've always liked the HSc. It's about as snag free design as one can find. I like the slide release design where inserting a magazine lets the slide close without having to slingshot it.
I've owned several commercial (post-war) versions and all in 9mm K. One wouldn't even feed hardball.

Excellent find. The HSc is a great little pistol. Often finicky about it's ammo but once you find what it likes you can shoot all day long. Perhaps the best pocket pistol ever because literally everything is completely snag free. And if you want to shoot DA it's nice to be able to cock the hammer.

At twice the price, it would have been a deal.

Maybe share another gratuitous shot of the 'S' for paint over-run?
The paint Mauser used on the phosphated guns had a chemical reaction with the finish of some sort and tended to creep.
It was not poor workmanship or haphazard application.

That is an attractive pistol.

Please keep me in mind if you consider moving it.

Thanks for sharing, JT

I agree, it is probably a $400-$500 gun. Another WWII holster would probably not be too hard to find, as it would be the same for a Walther PP or PPK.

Beautiful gun! I came across a newer one in .380 a few years back at a gun show. It looked very nice, but when I picked it up I saw that someone had crudely scratched their SSN into the slide. I passed.

Very cool. That gun would be $500 at all the over-priced gun stores around here.

One thing I forgot about the HSc that I liked. The safety blocks the firing pin but doesn't drop the hammer. It can be carried cocked with the safety applied and be ready single action with a flip of the thumbto take it off safe. Not quite cocked and locked, but close to it.

Yeah that was something I noticed after I got it home and started really examining it, nice feature.

I believe this is what you are referring to....

phosphate hsc

Since it's been a little over a year I thought maybe you'd like to sell it by now and get a new goodie. I'd pay top dollar if you part with it. Say $600-$700 if it looks good. Could I see pics and a price?? My E-mail is [email protected]. Thanks Nap
