My roommate Mike has this total POS GP35 (browning high power) that has never worked right since I've known him. Tonight he came back from shooting out back the house and showed me the most interesting jam I ever saw. One of the shell casings had flipped backwards in the chamber and jammed in. With the case head facing into the chamber the extractor was useless. The other Mike tapped it out later with a cleaning rod. I just had to tell this to others.

Remove the extractor and clean the channel with a dental pick, it's probably gummed up.

If it's an old HP the internal extractor may need to be re-tensioned.

May I suggest cleaning and some maintenance and then perhaps the POS will reveal a nice gun(hopefully). That is a very interesting jam...

Mike admits that he never cleans the thing. He also has a Winchester speed feed 12guage that he also never cleans. It doesn't work right aether. The only gun he has that works is the Cobray machine pistol. That's only because its a reliable enough design to go without maintenance.

I saw two guns jam like that last week. Both are Ruger 10/22 rifles new out of the box. Both had the case flip 180 degrees in the breech and jam the open case head into the extractor. Both were pulled off by hand.

My Iver Johnson .22 PPK clone did this a lot, and I kept it surgically clean. I never did get it working right, so off it went as a trade in.

+1 on that. I have a FEG, BHP-clone and love it. Hasn't even hic-cupped yet either.

Never thought of any Browning as POS guns. They are very well made and their O/U shotguns are tops!

In post #7 it is revealed that the owner of the pistol never cleans it. Irresponsible maintenance will gum up any machine. It's like never changing the oil in a car and then complaining that the car is a POS when the engine fails.

He needs to buy a glock. They are very reliable even if they are not clean. (except for the occasional KB). LOL.

Unfortunately, the luster on the Glock has worn off when we saw failures on a consistent basis on a batch of G21s on the line. It is common enough that the armorer here is already well versed in fixing or spot check common problems of the G21.

Almost certainly a magazine problem. See if it also ejects loaded rounds on the ground with the empties.

Dirt/fouling in the magazine body can cause the spring to bind and the loose rounds on top do god knows what under recoil, especially if the recoil then unbinds the spring.

Yep, some ammo like Wolf really gunk up the magazine. I had to wash out 8 mags like that when the rounds stopped feeding and the mag follower stopped 1/2 way in the mag body.

Buy the POS Browning from your roommate for the best price you can get. Then thoroughly clean the weapon. The extractor is probably all gunked up, and the magazines need to be taken apart and cleaned.

And then more than likely you will have a fine firearm that is definitely not a POS.

How old is it? It could use a new barrel.

I had one that would jam repeatedly because the case would stick in the chamber. Replacing the barrel fixed it easily.

I don't think Mike's GP35 ever worked, even when it was clean. He says he got in new in Kalifonia because his dad had one. His pop has the one with the tangent site and the wood holster that attaches as a butt stock. Mike's has the tangent sight but no facility to mount the stock. Also he says he already had a Glock once but, it got stolen in California along with his .44 magnum. I guess a lot of guns get stolen in that country.

I can attest to that. I had 3 guns stolen in the People's Republic of Kalifornistan. Never got any of them back. Found out one was recovered and destroyed without me ever being notified.
