I have been gone since last tuesday for a friend's wedding in Vermont, here is a recap of the more interesting events...

First, I turned 21. In celebration I bought a Steyr M9. I also recieved a Ruger 10/22 from my dad.

Secondly, for the bachelor and bachelorette parties we decided to go to Montreal, canada. 7 of us in the van crossing the border from Vermont into Canada, 5 were texans. We were stopped and the van was searched. No big deal really, it happens. The funny part was when the lady searching said they have to be careful with us Texans and our loose gun laws. Doesn't she realize that Vermont allows carry without a permit and felons are allowed to have guns? I think it is funny how people stereotype texans.

Other than that nothing gun related happened. My friend got married, we traveled alot, drank alot (without any guns around), and hardly slept.I haven't gotten to shoot the steyr yet, but I shot the Ruger and I love it. Can't wait to get out to the range later this week, if the rain ever stops...

When I was your age we always got searched going into Canada. Now that I'm 52 with a wife and 12 year old in the car they just say "have a nice trip" and wave us through.

ya, the bride and groom were in a separate car and didn't get stopped. I'm not upset about any of it, just thought her comment was funny. My mom was crossing the border last summer and when they saw her texas DL they asked her like 5 times if she had a gun and seemed amazed that a texan wasn't carrying. Either way, Canada was so much fun. We really wanted to go back but we didn't have time.

The last time I drove through the Canadian border at International Fall/Fort Frances, the man saw that I was from Georgia. He talked to me for about ten minutes about deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. He was going a month from then, and wanted to hear my experience while more cars than I could count piled up behind me. I remember thinking that the people must think I did something really wrong.
