I see the screw-to-screw length dimensions are the same between the M96 rifle and the intermediate length (M48 for instance) Mauser actions.
Would it be possible to hog out some extra material for the larger front ring and set an M48 into an M96 stock - possibly with some other cutting or filling - or are the other dimensions too far off to make it work?
