I've got a nice chinese m1a style rifle outside of the US. The stock is kind of ugly, worn and fat, and I'd like a new and lightweight stock that's slimmer in my hands.

For this reason, I want to order a Springfield armory synthetic stock. I know they're not the most tactical or the stiffest stock out there, but I've heard that they're decent and that they're slim and lightweight.

Where can I find SAI stocks online? They're not on Brownells or Midway :/.

Springfield used to use modified military stocks on their M1A rifles. They simply filled in the selector slot with some sort of epoxy and then painted the entire stock black. Since the military synthetic stocks are no longer as plentiful as they once were, they have been using some other style that is somewhat similar.

You check Fred's to see if he has what you need, but I've heard that wait times for the product are all over the place. Here's a link...

FRED'S MILITARY M14 RIFLE STOCKS

Funny coincidence you posted this. I was searching quite a bit last night trying to find Springfield stocks for sale. I've got a a standard m1a with black synthetic, but really would love one of the newer camo stocks. I guess hydro dipping is always an option.

It really seems as if m1a:s have gone out of fashion in the last five years. As I recall it, they were really popular 2005-2010 as the premier .308 american black rifle, with the resurrection of the scout scope trend and the associated release of the scout squad and "socom" rifles. Back then, the forum wisdom seemed to be that .308 AR:s were unreliable and not really worth it, but that's just not true anymore.

My m1a style rifle is chugging along just fine...
