IOR-Valdada Optics?

I am thinking of buying an IOR 4x24 M2 scope for an AR flat top. I would like to hear some feedback on this scope and other scopes made by this company.

My copy of Boston's Gun Bible has a couple pages on the IOR 4x24 M2. Boston really likes it. According to him:

IOR M2 Pros: Fog/shock/waterproof, great optics, illuminated reticle/stadia lines, fine BDC, clear knob markings, and excellent value. I like the removeable eyepiece.

IOR M2 Cons: Some scopes use 19" widths, whjicjh I prefer as you can't always expect your Bad Guy to be fully standing. I honestly can't find any glaring faults with this scope! Perhaps service support may someday be lacking, but that's assuming the scope fails - which seems very unlikely. I'd like replaceable BDC cams, but that's getting pretty picky.

Final word on the IOR M2: I think the M2 is the ideal scope for most battle rifles.

BDC stands for Bullet Drop Compensator. It's an extra knob on the scope with marks for ranges (100, 200, 300, 350, 400, etc). As you increase the range setting, a cam in the scope automatically changes the point of aim to compensate for bullet drop at the designated range. The cam is only accurate for a given bullet weight, though, since different loads have different trajectories. For sopme scopes you can buy a variety of BDC cams to match whatever ammo you happen to like; others (like the M2) have cams that can't be easily changed.

Edit - I'm pretty sure the M2 BDC is for .308 (not sure what weight), so it'd be useful on an AR-10 but not an AR-15.

Thanks for Bringing up the "BDC" I do need to find out what weight it is compensated for. I would geuss 55 or 62 for the .223.

You can order the 4X for either the 223 or the 308 BDC.
I had one on a flattop AR-15II. The optics were excellent but I got rid of it (sent it back to Brownells) because of the very short eye relief. To get a full field of view I had to crawl so far forward on the stock the charging handle was in my nose. 5.56mm doesn't recoil much but from that position it was still painfull.
This may have been a problem with my particular vision problems (near sighted) or indemic to the IOR 4X. You would be ahead to find one to look through before spending your money, just in case you have the same problem I did. YMMV!
