I had occasion to travel down I15 today and noticed their building is for sale/sor rent. The place looked empty. I then was listening to a call in radio show where people can ask an attorney questions and a caller stated he had ordered a firearm there but they seemed to be shut down and he was totally unable to make contact with them. Does anyone know if they are still in business or what the story is.

It is my understanding Larry left FBMG after signing his book deal. I did not recieve the impression at that time that the whole store was closing down. I was sad Larry left FBMG he was a big part of what I liked about that store.

From the webpage:

"There has been a good bit of discussion about the sign hanging on the building advertising it for sale or lease. FBMG's retail location is now closed. We will be filling existing orders with us, we will be doing the gun shows, and best of all we are still making our own line of custom AK's and AR's.

Our projected re-opening date is going to be the 7th of September. We will maintain a location in Draper, and we are looking at another location in Pleasant Grove. PLEASE bear with us during this time, we will be contacting all of our customers that have existing orders and giving them updates as soon as we can get the computers set back up.

An questions or concerns can always be directed to "Sales at FBMGInc dot com."

I got out of management at FBMG in October 2008, and I was completely sold out and gone by December 2008. I can't speak for anything they've done in 2009. I haven't really had anything to do with them since.

I've not really had any contact with them since that time. I've not spoken to the owner in several months, and I've maybe talked to him for five minutes this year. I've got no idea what is going on over there. As I've stayed out of it, I can't really comment. People have been contacting me for information because I'm easy to find, but I've just been giving them the owner's contact info and wishing them luck.

WeTheArmed.com

FBMG has its own sub-forum over on WeTheArmed.com, and there is a thread in that forum discussing what happened.

Basically, there was a storm, the roof literally blew off the building, and they have been forced to relocate.

There is a photo spread of the disaster.

Tentative date to re-open sometime in September.

I spoke with the FBMG guys at the June gun show. The building they were in had some issues which caused rather extensive flooding and then mold. According to them, the building is unusable and they were searching for another location to essentially start all over. From what I gathered, much of their business activities may stop for a while until they get everything re-situated and back on their feet. Great group of guys, who've been very knowledgeable when I've spoken to them. I hope that they can get going again.

In addition, I did hear that they were looking at opening an indoor shooting range.
I have stopped there several times, and the front counter guys always said that the warehouse portion of the building would flood when it rained.

It will be interesting to see if they get up and running. I really liked FBMG, mostly because it was one of the few gun shops I could go into where they seemed to understand the idea of customer service. Usually it was Lary who I dealt with there. I hope they keep the things that made them my favorite shop without him. Get Some Guns & Ammo is much close to where I live but there service is dispicable. They act put out that you walked into their shop, and heaven forbid you actually want to aks them something or have them show you something. Additionally I can buy anything they sale cheaper from the internet (perhaps not class III items). The reason I would pay more in abrick and mortor store is for the service. When you have crap service there really isn't much reason.
