Not sure if this is the correct forum so feel free to move the post.

I was in Wallyworld today and had to pick up a couple of boxes of ammo so i headed to the sporting goods section As I walked up I noticed that the long gun cases were both completely empty. I asked the department manager if they had had a rush on firearms and was a bit surprised at his answer.

Apparently a store located about 30 miles away was robbed last night and one of the things that was taken was a gun. Since it has the same district manager they have been instructed that all firearms must be removed from the cases at night and stored in the back until the next morning. He told me that they were way too busy to move the guns, probably a total of 30-40 at the max, so the case would be empty until they had the time.

I guess they get scared when the Feds get involved?

Kind of hard to walk out with a long gun??? Trench coat would have been a give away here in TX. :D

Be thankful you have Wal-Marts with guns in the first place!
Bingo!

WE have a few Wall-marts around us and the long guns went away long ago. They carried long guns and had a handgun catalog. If the gun you wanted was not at that store in a short time you had your gun. My wife bought me a 444 Marlin lever gun at one of those stores. The guns went away. Hell, even the K-marts had them and now around here, they are all gone. Some places still have a limited selection of ammunition but that is about it. Damn shame!

I was pleased to see a genuine Colt 6920LE in my local WalMart a couple of weeks ago...I had heard WalMart was starting to carry AR's in some stores but didn't really expect to see them in Rogersville, TN...LOL.

Now if they would just get some reloading supplies....

Our Wally World had a Bushy Patrol Carbine in it last time I looked, last week, and lots of ammo on the shelves. Haven't heard of that before - next they'll put in a gun safe and cardboard cutouts of the guns in the carousel - ask a manager to see the real thing.

This store normally carries the most common guns. Rem. 700 scope combos, Savage, Marlin Ruger 10/22, Ruger Ranch and a couple of AR style rifles. 15 or so shotguns of various types.

Ammo is hit and miss but lately they have been keeping a good supply of most normal ammo. Plenty of hunting cartridges as well as all the basic handgun. Good selection of .22 ammo. They are carrying Tula 9mm, 45, and some others at excellent prices. I think 9mm is $9.79 which is good for a single box purchase. Of course I live in the middle of Redneck America so gun and ammo sales are a requirement to get me in the store.

No offense to anyone (seriously) but walmart would be the last place I go for anything firearm related. There are too many localized sporting goods and gun stores in my area to give a dime of my money to walmart.

Of course I don't buy anything from walmart. :neener:

One of the potential problems with moving guns from the case to a secured space is the potential handling damage to the new firearms.

Ive got a few local gun shops and a gandar and a dicks....but i buy my ammo from walmart..they are the cheapest in my area by far...as for reloading gear got a few places with goid prices on that..my walmart doesnt sell guns anymore but ive bought 1 or 2 ther on sale in the past..price was just to good to pass up

I work for a large retail competitor and it's not unusual for protocols to be put in place after a robbery. For example, if someone breaks in after closing and steals a bunch of iPads or iPods, all the stores in the surrounding areas will move the iPads and iPods to a secure off stage location after closing, and that practice will remain until the subject(s) is/are caught or at least identified and are no longer deemed a threat to the area.
