Is it just me, am I paranoid?

I agree with those who stated it seems more like unfamiliarity than paranoia. I've lived in cities most of my life (even during my 24 years of military service LOL) and feel somewhat more comfortable in an urban setting than in the woods. We have some large and nice forest preserves here in northern Illinois, and when I have gone there with my wife I have often thought about going armed (even though such was illegal, and will be illegal until I receive my concealed carry license). The forest is just more of an unknown to me that normal city streets (I'm not talking about dangerous inner-city areas).

Because carrying the forest preserves has been illegal I did some research about crimes reported in these places and could not find any complaints about crime in any preserves in my county other than about unleashed dogs. I have never had the slightest actual problem while walking in these areas, so on the times when I may have been carrying anyway I felt a bit silly after the fact, and thought maybe I was being paranoid.

15 rounds? You should always have at least one spare magazine for any auto pistol. The most common cause of automatic pistols failing is the magazine. Yes, you're paranoid. Not that a touch of paranoia isn't healthy. Most of those people are too wrapped up in their own life to spare a thought about you.

As 9/11 showed us, Americans are pretty good in the immediate aftermath of a disaster. It's when supplies start running short and we've got to tighten our belts that the veneer of civilization starts getting thin. By that point you should be out of the city, even if you have to walk.

Relax. A little.
