I love the state of Washington...but King County (read: Seattle) has got to be one of the most liberal areas in the US. We only have two newspapers here and both have the same owner. It is, naturally, slanted to the left... I'd like to take a national newspaper but, alas, where does one find a more conservative (at least moderate) based newspaper? Sugestions?

Maybe the Washington Times? Course that's on the other side of the country.

Why are newspapers so anti-gun rights? I just don't get it. You would think that they would understand rights, and freedom, and maintenance of power with the people rather than empowering the government. You would think they would understand all that, since they supposedly understand First Amendment freedom. For some reason, though, they just don't. They want to give up that freedom and power to the government. Where did newspapers take that turn and why? And why is it so widespread? Is it inbreeding? Is it their closed culture and mindset or something?

The larger question is, 'are there any conservatives out there?' The ones who call themselves 'conservatives' are really just sycophants and lapdogs for [insert favorite politician's name here]

The Journal is fantastic, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it conservative. I think it's just a newspaper that does what it's supposed to do: report the news without subtly editorializing when it claims to be reporting. It is true, however, that the op-ed page is right of center much of the time.

Dunno of any truely conservative local papers in WA state. Particularly if you are looking for a daily to be delivered to your house in Seattle area. E WA papers tend to be editorially more conservative but not as much so as you might expect, and you won't have local Puget Sound area news. When mailed they will always be a day or two late, and they still get their national news through AP and UPI which are more "liberal." You can probably take a look at some at the library For a national conservative rag there is Human Events weekly. Google 'em.

mandohack, personally I find newsmax so neo-con that it drowns me, and sometimes they are flat out inaccurate. They are just your typical republican hack site, there are plenty of them out there. Conservative is fine, but party shills suck.

Washington Times is not to bad. Is it still owned by the Rev. Moon? CS Gazzette not bad either. The WSJ is mostly business related news but is a good newspaper with lots of national news and you can get hard copy anywhere through the mail. Many small town papers are also conservative. In most large cities I have noticed where there is more than one paper one of them is usually moderate or slightly right wing while the other is a liberal rag.
