Does anyone here load for the M1 Carbine any differently than for the Ruger Blackhawk in 30 Carbine? When I first got my M1 Carbine, I bought bunches of ammo and shot it in the M1 Carbine and then I got the Ruger Blackhawk and shot the same ammo but I am wondering if anyone loads differently for the M1 Carbine verses the Ruger Blackhawk?

SAAMI sets the pressure limits and the cartridge specs for accepted cartridges.

If both are chambered for the 30 Carbine then any ammo loaded to those specs will fire correctly in both. Probability 30 Carbine ammo made during war time for the 30 Carbine was hotter than civilian ammo but I'm not sure of that.

I don’t have a .30m1c pistol but I do have a few rifle caliber pistols. I do load differently for my 10” barrels. I load the same for my 14” barrels. Main reason to load differently is for noise. Pistol powder loads are generally a bit faster, but a lot quieter.

I don't but I probably would, unless I needed to maintain interchangeability.

Milspec ammo is loaded to a specific pressure curve for the M1's operating system. I'd look into tailoring handloads to the revolver's shorter barrel length. You could achieve less flash/noise, greater powder economy, cast lead bullet use, etc.

You can get less flash but you'll lose velocity by going to faster powders.

Loads for carbine length barrels with parameters for a gas operated system will go “bang” in a short barreled revolver - however a load designed for optimum function in the RBH could take advantage of faster burning powder and shorter pressure curve, have less flash and unburned powder ejected after bullet exits muzzle!

From what I've heard H110 was formulated for the 30 Carbine or it was the original powder used to load for it.

While H110/W296 will deliver good results it is very flashy and there are probably better choices now.
Lil'Gun is probably a good choice and will probably deliver higher velocities but it does generate a lot of heat so be careful not to overheat your barrel.

Ramshot Enforcer will most likely do a great job too as will Accurate 11 FS if you can find data cor those powders.
