I am not really a plated bullet shooter. But need some (or FMJ) for some indoor range use.
Normally shoot lead or coated bullets

This is for 38 special/357 mag only

I want ones with a defined cannelure and Flat point, no hollow point/soft points

Thanks

I use and recommend X-Treme Bullets. Great quality, heavy plate, Great selection in 38/357 and can be pushed to 1500 fps. Right now they have a sale for the 4th with 10% off and free shipping. Have tried others but imho these are the best. Here is a link to their site http://www.xtremebullets.com

We have two ongoing threads on pistol jacketed and plated bullet testing:

Plated bullet testing (currently all available) - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...ng-at-25-50-yards.808446/page-3#post-10470195

Jacketed and plated bullet diameter listing - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...re-sized-the-same.818806/page-2#post-10567453

Jacketed bullets are currently being accumulated by brand. Once sufficient brand representation has been collected, jacketed bullet testing will commence although initial baseline testing with 115/124 gr FMJ/JHP bullets have begun (Here's 115 gr Zero/RMR/HAP comparison) - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...anging-bullets-thoughts.818764/#post-10502502

So it's all settled. Buy something from RMR, load with BE-86 verified on a "safety scale" install your primers with a "safety prime", put everything together on an LCT and finish with a fcd. If you have any questions check the ABCs

And that is the way of the Zen Masters!

Seriously??:confused::confused:

You forgot to mention wet tumble the brass to a "surgically clean shine"

No.

- Verify calipers with pin gauges
- Verify pistol powder charges on .02-.1 gr resolution scales verified by 0.5-5.0 gr check weights
- Inspect primer pockets
- Hand prime cases to .004" below flush
- Load test rounds on single stage press using minimal taper crimp without the use of FCD (Bullet diameter + .022" = Taper Crimp)
- Triple check published load data
- Test neck tension by measuring bullet setback from feeding/chambering with magazine
- Conduct full powder work up using max/working OAL function tested with tightest chamber barrel
- Incrementally decrease OAL by .005" for utmost accuracy

Repeat for different brand bullets and powders.

And this is not even for match grade load development. :D

Surgically clean shine not necessary, just enough clean with dry tumble. ;)

Grasshopper has a question.
Is this not covered in the ABC?

My procedures for load development came primarily from my reloading and shooting mentor who shot bullseye matches and secondarily from various THR/Brian Enos forum members.

No, this is very advanced and covered in XYZ:)

► To hit a target… is to exercise the inner strength. Indeed there are two kinds of strengths. The outer strength is obvious: it fades with age and succumbs to sickness. Then there is the ch’i, the inner strength. Everyone possesses it, too. But it is indeed much more difficult to develop. The inner strength lasts through every heat and every cold. Through old age and beyond. -Master Kan
