is this a rare enfield?

I think he may have mis-typed that buy now price. But the minimum bid is also way high. It's not unfixable but you'd need to spend $100 or so on a new stock. So it might be worth $150 or so assuming it's all matching.

No that is a MK III that has been sporterized as CmdrSlander indicated. It is worth about 120 - 150 bucks. DON'T bid 250 for that wreck of history.

It's a rare custom bubbafield which makes it worth waaay more. Not really, I wouldn't buy it!

Good God. Bubba really had his way with that Enfield. Crappy attempt to sporterize. Why do people ruin these old military pieces. I might go 75 bucks for that turd and hope I could replace the stock and metal fittings. No, wouldn't even go 75. Maybe 50.

I'd buy it for 100$ just because of the early style cocking piece...part out the rest of the gun.

Around here a standard military Enfield goes for 300-500 bucks. That custom stock hack job should add another 200 bucks to the value. You better jump on that deal.....yeah, right......chris3

I was thinking more like $75 max for a chopped up #1mkIII. Gonna cost some dollars to restore it to origional.

Maybe I should put my #5mk1 up for $2500!

Hell No

Nothing valuable about that at all!
Its a piece of junk. To many Bubbas have had their way with it. Its not even a good parts gun. To many pieces missing, and they are hard to find pieces also.

People can ask whatever they want for their guns and people can spend their own money however they see fit.

Asking $900 for a rifle worth $200 at the most is just an example of someone who is uneducated about what they are selling, if someone is idiotic enough to buy it for that price then the buyer is truly uneducated. However people try to sell stuff they think is worth a lot more than it is all the time, watch Pawn Stars if you want lot's of examples.

Looks like a chopped up $100 dollar BSA NoI MkIII* to me.....................certainly not worth no 900 bucks.

If the original metal components were in good shape, but the wood had been scraped, gashed etc it could have been replaced.
I have four of the #4 series, and two #5 "Jungles".

Among a group of very experienced, middle-aged friends/gun buddies, none of us look twice at sporterized milsurps at shows etc.
The typical examples we've seen are just looked upon with pity.

There were many guns which previous owners had cut up, and later owners improved, sometimes with attractive results.
"Mick (Crocodile) Dundee" shoots an attractive commercial Aussie version in movie #2, hits the thugs' trucks from his shack.

But many nice Enfields which trained or armed our western allies in world wars were just cut down, drilled by anybody, with most of the character neutered.

Good Lord. That looks just like my 1917 sporterized No.1 Mk.3 that I bought from the trunk of some guy's car for $100. I've got more than that invested in new wood for it, and I'll STILL have a piece of history for cheap when I'm done. I need to git busy and finish that old girl.

I have a 1943 Lithgow that has a green band on the stock where you grip it, on the tang. It has all matching numbers, original stock with numbers to match. Mine is rare. I never seen another with a band around the stock.

Green band - range gun - fires good
Yellow band - field gun for training
Red band - parade rifle - doesn't fire.

I'll have to get some pics of my Enfield No1 Mk3 up on the board one day. I wouldn't pay more than a buck-fitty for that rifle, and that is if I didn't have any other options for a rifle, but if it shoots straight, it would be one heckova deer or short to mid-range elk rifle.

To see what a PROPER No1 Mklll conversion can look like, go to www.auctionarms.com and search for 9059436. Just type the number in the yellow panel and hit "search".

I bought this rifle some time ago, and consider it to be worth every penny. There's a BIG difference from the 'dog' in this thread.

Look at it. There are no bids on it at all. Of course with that $899 reserve I guess not. I could see putting a crazy price like that for 'buy now' but that one's gonna close without any bids.
