Basically the way I read the argument is that they are setting up an all or nothing situation where they think that the courts will rule in their favor. I don’t see this ending well for us, but there’s wiggle room so I’m hoping for at least Hughes to be repealed.

The truth of the matter is that the progress of gun technology has made the NFA mostly irrelevant. In most situations, the semiautomatic AR15 is actually more effective than the full-automatic M16 (because it wastes less ammunition, and is marginally simpler).

Logically, there are two ways forward for the NFA: either repeal it, or expand it to include semiautomatics. Neither is likely to happen, so here we are. It will continue to become more and more irrelevant, until it is nothing more than a historical relic on a shelf. Just like a belt-fed Maxim.

I was lucky enough to shoot a Maxim IM 08/15 Zeppelin gun in Arizona, likely the same one Ian has in this video. The owner let me shoot it from the tripod, then he asked if I wanted to
"Rambo" it and pick it up and shoot it from the hip. How could I resist? Best stupid fun I've ever had. It's slow cyclic rate and reliability makes it still a very effective and deadly weapon.

Mine is a Norinco "Natl. Match" rifle with the milled receiver (not stamped sheet metal) and a heavier barrel. Unfortunately, I don't really want a fully auto anything as I have found that the AK and my 10/22 can be so fun to shoot, I waste ammo. I can pull the trigger fast enough to lay down good suppressing fire.
