Is your interest in guns narrow or broad?

Do you focus on particular types (shotguns, rifles, handguns) or everything? And has your focus changed over the years? I have a selection of all of the above but I find in recent years my primary interest is handguns. Can't point to a particular reason why, although the growth of legal carry laws likely has been part of it.

.
At this point in my life, my interest in firearm types lay with single-action revolvers, pistol-caliber lever carbines, bolt-action scout rifles, 1911-pattern pistols and "Texas tactical" social shotguns. Some would call me a Fudd. I own a few other types, but nothing 9mm striker-fired. My rimfire long guns are a 1935 Remington Model 34 and the Miroku-Winchester Model 63 rimfires which are absolute delights.

In my future I see a Swedish Mauser or two, and a Marlin 1895...

I grew up hunting doves, quail and rabbits with a shotgun and then migrated to hunting big game, Whitetails, Muleys, Elk and Antelope with rifles, I also hunted varmints with rifles but my real enjoyment came from hunting with a handgun. I don't hunt anymore because I came to the realization that all life is sacred. I support hunters but I just don't hunt, rather I handload for my pistols and revolvers and shoot on a weekly basis.

I'd say broad ...

•Trap/Skeet
•Occasional dove hunting
•Deer and hog hunting
•Concealed carry and the defensive pistol classes that go along with it
•Some collecting (WWI, WWII and the interwar period - Russian, German, Finnish and Polish)
•A beginning interest in 3-gun

Focus hasn't changed too much. There has been a decrease in collecting though. Not as much money coming in, so instead of being able to do both I can either collect or shoot. So I picked shooting.

I'm a hunter 1st so I have rifles and shotguns. I also own handguns and AR rifles that I enjoy shooting and feel confident in my ability to use in the event that it is necessary. But they are of secondary importance. I enjoy shooting targets at the range, even stretching my legs at some longer distances. But I don't have any interest in a dedicated long range precision rifle. I want to find my limitations with a sporter weight hunting rifle, not a 10-12 lb target rifle that will never be hunted with.

Over the years I've experimented with and owned just about every type of handgun, rifle, and shotgun out there. My interest used to be more broad. But over time I've decided what seems to work best for me and I've gotten rid of a lot of unused stuff. Single action revolvers and cowboy weapons are cool, but just not my thing. I'm more interested in what works best rather than aesthetics.

Broad, I like everything. While my specialties are in AR-15's followed by World War 2 firearms, I dabble in everything including shotguns, revolvers, black powder, etc. In fact on my short list is a newly made blunderbuss made in NH.

i'm focused on solving problems. only interested in the best tools to do that. if blackpowder suddenly makes a big advancement and becomes tacticool, i'll be interested in blackpowder again.

Mostly handguns. I don't hunt, so rifles are just fun things (a couple of Mosins, an SKS, and a lever .357) rather than serious things. No shotguns yet.

Mainly pistols my whole life. Just something about them appeals to me.
Never hunted, have no desire to. Always have a 12ga and 30-30 around for bumps in the night. I have pistols stashed all over the house, loaded of course.
In the last 5 years or so I've been drawn to revolvers and in the last 2 years I got 2 AR15s and an AR10 because I wanted to have the choice of having one on my own.
I've yet to shoot the ARs but they are ready to go at a moment's notice.

I own it all---shoot pistols mostly---rifles and shotguns when I can find the time----have been on a shotgun binge lately though

Have a TC Omega that I got for a steal years ago---still haven't shot it yet.

Interests ebbed and flowed over the decades. Rifles and shotguns used to dominate my collection. Then I started pistol hunting and pistols started amassing, then I moved to bow hunting. Rifles and shotguns were sold off in mass replaced by handguns. Now a days I'm back to buying rifles again...lol

1st requirement is a gun has to be older than I am. (I'm pre-WW2).
Lot's of handguns, fewer rifles. No shotguns.
It's not that I don't like rifles, it's the storage aspect......

I started out with broad interests but it seems to be narrowing as I get older.

I have consolidated my handgun collection down to mostly revolvers. In fact, I only own one bottom feeder.
I don't see myself purchasing any handguns other than single action revolvers in the near future (unless of course a steal pops up).

I am a hunter mainly so my interest in long guns centers around hunting rifles and shotguns.

So fairly narrow these days I guess.

While I have a few shotguns and half a dozen rifles, I primarily collect S&W revolvers.

All my guns have uses anymore, mostly hunting or self protection so not really a collector per se. Used to shoot rifle competition but that's been almost 25 years ago now. Shooting focus now is on field conditions like standing rifle at clay targets 100+ yards, trap, and handguns at 20-50 yards with reactive targets. Not much interest in high speed/short distance stuff. So... narrow? broad? Eh.

Of course taking my son (military/college age) and others out shooting and giving them pointers or coaching is more fun anyway. Their interest is in AKs, ARs, Saiga shotguns, 1911s.

I started out hunting with shotguns. Lost interest in hunting while in the Army, too much like work to be a hobby. Must be at least ten years since I shot a shotgun.

I have a couple of ARs but mostly shoot pistols, mostly Glocks. I don't consider guns my hobby, its more about shooting than what I shoot.

used to be broad but now narrow. I used to be all about let me get as many guns as I can afford in different calibers and types. I started off with a pump shotgun and then picked up an O/U and now both sit in the safe not being used. decided I wanted to try varmint hunting so jumped into bolt actions and own 3 and 2 just sit there not being used. own 3 ML-idk why. I was into the whole prepper/AR thing and that tapered off. now ive come to realize that just because a buddy has an AR doesn't mean I need one. just because other guys use O/U doesn't mean I need one. I'm going to sell off a couple things and pay off some bills. I'm sure the broad I gotta have a lot of guns will hit me again.

Very broad interests. If it shoots, I like it. I am not a hunter so hunting guns have rather less interest to me than, say, military rifles. I am a student of history, especially warfare, and military rifles of the twentieth century hold special interest to me. I have a C&R Licence and that was the best $30 I ever spent. I only have a few guns really worth very much, the 1911 in the picture being one. I consider myself an "accumulator" rather than a "Collector"

I like to make my own guns from scratch, out of blocks of steel. The smaller pistol is a 38spl, the larger a .45 PITA. 45-70 cut to 1.4" The longer rifle is a 45-70, the shorter is my 30-06 rolling block hand made from 4140 and heat treated to RC40.

Sorry about the upside down pic.

Almost forgot the unfinished little pistol, it is a 22 magnum. Guess it's kinda obvious I like rolling block actions....:)

Before anyone asks....NO the rifles are NOT Remington #1s that I re-worked. I milled those actions out of solid blocks of steel, The 06 took seven years and hundreds of hours. I made everything but the barrel, the rear sight and the screws..

I've transitioned over the years from Hunter( bird, deer) to Concealed Carrier and deer hunter, so my guns have changed.

I also lost the desire to accumulate and actually try to reduce the number of guns I own.
