Probably not a lotta help but I got a ****load of 8mm pretty cheap (still is i think) ..... and not sure of origin but - corrosive .. so usual clean-up job. Just means shooting off a whole load at a time ... to justify the clean-up!
Thus far, it seems all the mil-surp type stuff that is cheap, will be corrosive . but keen to hear if otherwise.
most definatly.its the primers(i think) that are corrosive.the non corrosive stuff will be pricy-cheapest i found was 8.50 a box of s&b ball, boxer primed @ 20 rnds.clean it with something to neutralize the acids in the primers.ive heard windez or soapy water swabs down the bore and bolt face for corrosive ammo.you dont wanna leave it set too long after using corrosive ammo.
To be safe, assume that all 8mm surplus is corrosive. That way you'll avoid the heart ache of a screwed up barrel.
There are a few companies that load commercial 8x57 ammo. Norma, Igman, and you mentioned Sellier & Bellot. All the domestic stuff is loaded to lower pressures than foreign ammo.
