Israeli Knife Law

Can anybody tell me what the laws are in Israel regarding carrying a knife? I've searched this forum as well as a general "Google" search and have turned up nothing.

I am traveling to Israel this summer and would like to know if I can carry a Leatherman or similar multi-tool.

Does anyone here live in Israel? Has anyone spent time there recently?

As a tourist, will I be hassled by security for carrying a knife, even if its legal?

I appreciate any information, experience, or links that you can share with me.

You might try one of the knife forums. I know that there are a couple members of the Spyderco factory forum who are from Israel.

Not been there, but have had both Jewish and Christian friends who have. I'd start with the Israeli consulates in New York, LA and San Francisco for guidance.

Those I know who have been over there say non jews are treated maybe one step above Palestinians. One jewish couple took friends, one an Episcopalian minister over for Easter and none plan on going back.
