One of the recent threads about "case Trimming" ... I suggested making some little devises to make use the Lee Case Trimmer easier ... I think the photos pretty much show how these work ...

1/4" Aluminum flat bar about 1.5" wide(mine was scrap) ... drill two 3/4" holes in the flat bar ... drill and tap for a 10-32 setscrew in the edge of each bar ... cut to shape ... I chose to opposing "Ls" ... they almost work like pliers ...

Then ... I use the Lee Cutter and pilot shaft in a hand held drill ... works pretty fast and smooth ... it is not as fast as the high dollar trimmers like the Little Crow *** or others of that type ... but for the price of a Lee Cutter/Pilot/ Lock stud & shell holder ... and a little scrap and a couple set screws the price is not too bad ....

Hey! That's a good idea!

I moved away from the Lee trimmer a couple years ago. I must have been running the drill too fast because after about 500 308 cases (not one session) the top of the mandrel pin was starting to peen.

Fire Moose ... That is a draw back of the simple Lee trimmer... Due to the nature of the flash hole that pin can only be so big ... Kind like the female side of things ...A lite touch works best for that small pin...

And a good reason to measure every so often .... The pilot is still pretty cheap to replace...

Thanks guys ... I should have said they look like opposing "P" .... Well they did start as "L" ... but I got happy with the grinder ... So I wound up rounding them off ... and I did cut out a section for the opening of the shell holder where the brass goes in ... like all my "projects" ...They tend to get modified from beginning to end ... Sometimes it works .... Sometimes it don't ...

I have gone to the power trim system on the turret. I process the primers, sizing and trim in bulk. Then re-tumble the lube off. I like your setup tho!!! i'd be more $$ into a set of taps though to make it
