i have an ithaca ss 20ga that my dad gave me a few years back. it has a 28" barrel with full choke. recently when hunting with a friend after he watched me shoot a squirrel at what he considered out of range for a 20ga (he hunts with a nef youth model) he asked what an ithaca like mine would run him.

i checked gunbroker and guns america and a couple other gun sales sights that i found by doing a search but couldnt find that exact gun. i found some with blond stocks and no checkering for around $100 (think hes gonna buy one) but i couldnt find one to match mine.

my digital cam is broken so i cant get a pic however i found one that is very close to it on gunbroker. mine has the same stock color and checkering pattern with the gap in it. however as the 28" full choke barrel rather than the 24" modified. serial number is 660710xxx if anybody could tell me when it was made and if that is the origianl barrel or not id appreciate it.

heres a link to the one on gunbroker http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=119495959
thx

sorry wasnt paying attention to where i posted it. im sure a mod can move it if they want to.

The Supersingles were brought out in the 70s, I think.

A good friend uses his with slugs. It has a truckload of venison behind it.

Market value is not great. Fair value, maybe $100.

However, yours is priceless. It's a gift from your Dad.

Exercise it often.

thx dave...no id never sell it it is priceless not only because its a gift from my dad but theres a story behind it.

when he was 14 (26yrs ago so your timeframe sounds right) he was going to take a duck hunting trip to michigans UP with my grandpa. for months he lamented the fact that his 410 wasnt enough but of course he still wanted to go so the night before they packed the tuck and dad put his 410 behind the seat. then when they got up there and settled in when he opened his guncase there was the ithaca 20ga.
i really hadnt wondered about market value for that gun was just curious about that particular stock and barrel combination since i didnt see it on any of the sites i checked.

20ga Ithaca

MIO-Sounds like a "FLUES"model.I have one.Call Ithaca Gun Co.and give them the Ser.# and they'll give you date of mfg and model name.Flues were named after the designer. If you'll check under the bbls on the forward breech you'll find stamped #'s.'5'=full down to ''1".This model came out about or just after the 'NID'New Ithica Double and was -I think-a slightly cheaper version.Mine is Full+Mod. made 1927.Current gun books show $1100 for 85% or better.Hang on to it!I've had mine 10yrs and value increases $100 every 2yrs or so.They ARE sweet to shoot!
