I just heard some banging in the clothes dryer and went in to fish out some loose change. But I do remember one day in the not-too-distant-past when I fished some loose rounds of 38 special out of the dryer. OMG!

This comes under the heading of forehead-slap stoopid, but in the Christmas spirit, I was wondering if anyone had ever washed a gun or mag along with your work clothes and unmentionables?

I left a dozen or so CCI MiniMag's in my pants pocket about a month ago. Found them scattered in the bottom of the washer drum when I removed the clothes. Clean little buggers they were. Took them to the range a few days layer and every single one of them went Bang.......

Only washed 1 round of .22. I had a dumped a 50 round box in my pocket for a 22 competition, and missed one. Never washed a gun or mag.

I used to wash speed strips of .38's pretty regular when I was using an Airweight. I had the same experience as Gottahaveone had when I took them to the range.

This past summer, while I didnt wash them, I did tumble three Glock 42 mags with a load of .380 brass, for about a day. That was a first, and getting the media out of the mags was a bitch. Will be trying my best not to do that again. :)

How the heck did you miss 3 huge magazines when dumping them into a tumbler?

They arent that big, and I threw them in the coffee can with the brass when I picked it up. Wasnt paying attention, turned on the tumbler, and dumped them all right in. :)

Got to wondering what happened to them the next morning.

Years ago I had a huge 6 gallon water cooler jug, and every 4 or 5 years I'd dump it into a pillow case and take it to the bank. One time the teller returned one empty .38 casing, a live .22 she'll and a handful of Canadian change to me. Boy was I surprised...:what:

Years ago I came in the house late (again) for something and as I was in a big hurry and didn't have time to properly put away my H&R revolver, I chucked it in our upright washer, holster and all.
Of course when I got home later that night, I forgot all about it, and the next day someone washed it in a load of darks.
Trouble started when the washer went to spin and there was a heck of a racket, and a sodden revolver was fished out.

Guess when you pop a bad guy with that ammo it'll be a "clean shoot".............

My dad (divorced for years) used a dry cleaner/laundromat cleaning service.
They just put any brass or ammo they found on top of the clean and folded clothes in his basket.
Pops was heck on groundhogs all summer, so would forget a round or two in a pocket (often).
It became comical. Even the ladies working there got a chuckle out of it.

AS a kid/teenager my mom, too, had a butter dish in the laundry room for ammo and change, both frequent visitors to her laundry room

No, but my financial planner left a 300 win-mag cartridge in his shirt pocket. He is a competitive long-range shooter. It managed to get wedged between the rotating innards, crushing the primer and touched-off, blowing the case apart and scaring he and his wife to death. Not sure of the extent of the damage, probably not a lot.

No gun stuff.

When my mother lived with me, she washed the key fob for my new truck. It survived and worked fine after a new battery. Later on, after she was gone, I put the fob for my new car in the dryer and caught it before it was damaged. And finally, around March of 2013, my new kitten crawled into the dryer and went on about a 30 second ride that really shook her up. Since then, she's terrified of the dryer and takes off when I open up the door to load/unload it.

I've washed and dried many a .22LR in my time.

They're so small, you can miss them when emptying a pocket! Thankfully, they've never detonated though.

I've washed my snuff cans and wallet several times, but never ammo. hdbiker

Nope. Only pieces of paper with important notes written on them.
