Its almost here (custom 1911 content)

So long distance handgunning is my absolute passion in life, followed by 1911s, so I wanted a 1911 built for my love of distance shooting.


It's an accuracy X built for me, I wanted a frame mounted rail that would accommodate red dots or scopes or even an adjustable scope base and rifle scope for truly pushing the 1911 and 45 cartridges limits. I searched long and hard for a builder that would not only listen to my want list, but build the darn thing for me. So may of 2020 after a lot of emails and calls I sent the check to start the build.

I cannot recommend accuracy X enough if you're in the market for a high end 1911. I dont have it in hand yet to check fit and finish but the updates and calls and email chain has been great.

I will do a full review when it comes in.

So nearly a year since first ordered, and not in your hands yet. I can only imagine the anticipation you're feeling, especially if the updates show it being close to done. Waiting patiently has never been one of my best traits, so I'd be climbing the walls if I were in your shoes. Looking forward to the full review! (Thanks. Now I'm antsy and it's not even mine)

The bullseye expert on 1911 forum recommends Accuracy X as one of the few, maybe only "brand" guns good enough (as opposed to individual accurizing by a specialist.)

Yeah, Its been a challenge for sure. I think having other guns and barrels take a while helped me prepare.

I talked to A LOT of 1911 builders, had mostly good interactions, 1 that was a negative, and one that was appalling. A few builders told me to contact steve at accuracy x. From the first phone call I felt like a friend and he was genuinely interested in what I wanted to do with it.

The best part about that is, I'm a NOBODY. I dont have a YouTube channel, I dont compete, I dont have a trophy case full, nothing. And he still took me very seriously and was genuinely pumped on this build. If jerry miculek hit up any of the builders that blew me off, (or thought I was legitimately trolling idk) they wouldve jumped through burning hoops to build it for him. So that as a blue collar nobody went really far with me.

As a self employed contractor my motto has ALWAYS been "Treat every customer like they are your ONLY customer".
Words to live by IMHO.
Sounds like you found a builder who agrees.

At one time I would have loved to have had something like that on my 10mm.

I really visually appreciate that the slide has no accommodation for iron sights.

Update: shes here, and my god is it pretty.

No chance for a review yet (probably not for a week or two due to work) but for and finish is TOP notch. I have lower rings on the way for the pistol scope. I cannot wait to shoot long bombs with this pig.
