It's Good Too Be Back-

Hello Everyone-

After a lengthy delay caused by a computer crash, I'm happy to
announce that I am once again up and running with a brand
new system. I missed all the fun and excitement while I was
away; and feel as though I may have missed gaining some
useful knowledge as well, from all my friends here at THR.

Best Wishes,
Ala Dan, N.R.A. Life Member

Gosh! I never knew I was so popular, many thanks for the warm
reception upon my return. Yes, while I was away I learned that
there are other .45 ACP's out there; other than the SIG P220!
Namely, the Springfield WW-II MIL SPEC. Grant it, I can't shoot
it as well as my beloved P220, but I'm learning!

Respectfully,

Heck yeah you are Popular. :D

Well....if the PMs show up I sent checking up on you....and the one about me having to make a run to the "Redneck Riveria" and seeing if we could say hello ...you can probably just delete those now. :p

Welcome back, Ala Dan! :)

I myself suffered catastrophic motherboard failure a couple of days ago, but fortunately I have a work laptop to post with. It will be a couple of weeks before I can afford a new board. :p

Hey ole bud - glad to see you after your break . You know the cream always rises to the surface! :D

Welcome back to the family I was wondering where you had drifted off to.

You are all knowing when it comes to S&W's so let me ask you a welcome back question

I am buying a M4596 and can't find out to much about it. I called S&W and the only facts I could get after the guy said that wasn't a correct model number and I told him I held the gun at is a 4596 was from a coworker who said that they were made in 1990 as a Lew Horton special and there "weren't that many produced". That was a close to an official number as I could get though searching here and the S&W forum I found out there were somewhere between 382-500 made. This is all I can find out about this pistol. If you can find anything else I would be grateful.

Welcome back.

but while you were gone we all decided Sigs suck, especially the 220.

We also determine which is better in the 9mm vs .40SW vs .45acp debate. And we are just about to publish a treatise on which weapon is best for mutant ninja zombie bears.

Dan -

Glad you are back . . . I have been wondering (and even worrying a little). Best regards -- Roy

Again, many thanks for the kind words from the welcoming
party's! Its great too be back with my friends.

You are correct my friend, the S&W 4596 was a one time
production run for Lew Horton. It is a .45 ACP built on the
4506-1 frame, and fitted with a 4516-1 slide; with Novak
low mount fixed sights, and 1st triggerguard. The book
says that an approximate total of 382 units were produced
in 1990, with a 3.75" barrel. Product code is: 104490
Hope this helps?
