I haven't been able to find any extra mags for my last rifle purchase, a Henry Long Ranger in .223/5.56. So in researching my next firearm purchase, I'm first checking availability of not just ammo caliber, but also extra magazines. And guess what ... I can't find extra magazines for the rifle I'm looing at, either (Ruger Mini-14). Sold out ... sold out ... sold out ... not available for back-order ... sign up for the email list ...GRRR!!! Plenty of Magpul PMags around, but if you're looking at something other than an AR-15 platform, BEWARE!! You might find ammo, but can you also find extra mags???? Or other accessories and resources you might need to make use of your firearm???

I live in Pennsylvania. There are a few state specific gun forums that buy and sell. Maybe you can find a Wisconsin group where you can do business? I looked for you and you are right - "out of stock", "sign-up to be notified by email". I DID find some for my CZ 527 however, and thanks to your timely reminder I WILL order one.

I think that’s why non-AR rifles that accept AR magazines are very popular. Cheap and plentiful.

In my world, if it’s not an AR, Glock, or 1911 in their base or common cartridges, it is a total crapshoot for magazines.
That's the main reason I bought a Mossberg MVP.
10 round AR mags are plentiful.

I've had some luck with Greg Cote LLC and Gunmagwarehouse. But, if you snooze you lose. I keep an eye on Armslist too. Sometimes mags show up in their Accessories area.

The panic buying may have spread beyond Firearms, Magazines and Ammo. My other "shooting hobby" is Archery and, I have noticed that the local big box stores have not had anywhere near their usual selection of Archery equipment on the shelves since last Fall. Not near as bad as Firearms and Ammo but, still noticeable.

So...that was always a problem with the mini 14, even in "normal" times, and, to some extent, I would wager that it was always a problem with many less common/obscure firearms. And probably not just mags, but holsters etc.

Not to be critical, but I'm surprised anyone is even considering a "next rifle" (or handgun for that matter) purchase, unless they have their own private stocks of ammo for it. Right now, I wouldn't give any significant amount of money for any gun that I didn't already have lots of ammo and mags for.

Around my neck of the woods magazine`s of all kinds are plentiful especially AR 15 magazines.

What size magazines are you looking for. 5's, 10's or 20's? If it was legal for me to do so (as of 2018 it isnt) I would have been happy to grab some for you and ship em your way. Im in VT so anything over 10 rd is a no go and I'm pretty sure they are mostly 20-30rd mags.

There is a shop in Charlestown, NH called Hunting and Sporting Depot and they have an entire box of good condition OEM mini 14 mags for like $10/ea and usually quite a few brand new in the plastic pack. If you were looking to buy a bundle of em they might ship them out to you. It might be worth a call to them, like I said if you wanted to buy a bundle they might be inclined to do it.

This week I went to wally world- plenty of guns, but total ammo inventory was 2 boxes of 30-30 and 1 box of 300 WM. Yesterday at academy, there was 2 shotguns behind the counter, in the case they had Sig P365, that new Ruger 57, and Glock 22. The only ammo in stock was 4 boxes of 28 gauge bird shot. There were plenty of Pmags in 308 and 223 though. There is a gun show in Pensacola this weekend, but I'm not going to bother to go. Its not worth the 100 mile round trip and the $10 door fee if all I'm going to get is a funny sticker to put on my tool box or something equally worthless. My time will better be spent hunting- I can afford the 1 round of 308 I will hopefully need for that. I'm doing a full ammo and reloading supply inventory today to get an idea of how much longer I can even go to the range and continue to use a minimal amount of ammo to sustain any level of training (apart from the "no touch" emergency stash). I'm even going to look at things like my remaining SP hunting rounds- I'm using ammo now left over from last year.

OEM magazines for a Sig P6 or the commercial P225 (German-proofed original 225):
does approx. $85-$100 seem high :(? I have No idea how much the average price jumped during the panic in 2020.

It was a sheer fluke that six German mags were included with my P6 about two years ago, in the display case at ShootPointBlank.

Even the 3rd. Gen (single-stack) 'OEM' S&W mags for the 908, 3913/3914 are about $80 min., on E-Bay.:scrutiny:

* Unfamiliar New shooters: just to clarify for some of you that OEM means the original mags designed for (or by) the gun manufacturer--in stark contrast (sometimes) to newer aftermarket magazines.
> Original Equipment Manufacturer< .

? :scrutiny:Private and commercial sellers are likely (?) holding back on such available products now to sustain high prices.
